Movie matching stopped working after updating to Version 0.9.16.6

I updated the server a few days ago, and since then have had no luck matching movies automatically. It has worked perfectly for two years - I can probably count the number of mis-matches on one hand. The Movie Library is set up with the scanner as the Plex Movie Scanner, and Freebase as the default agent. The Freebase agent is configured for Local assets first, followed by The Movie Database, and then Freebase.

Movies are named in this format, with each movie in it’s own folder:
Folder: Movie Name (year)
File Names: Movie Name (year).ext, Movie Name (year).eng.srt

If I have included any extras, they are in sub-folders of the Movie folder and those folders are named Trailers, Scenes, etc. I usually make an SD version of the movie stored on a different drive with same folder and naming structure but add an (SD) to the file name - Movie Name (year) (SD).ext

Since updating, Plex does not find a match automatically, but if I select “Match” and specifically choose the Movie Database agent, it finds the info instantly with a 100% match. Freebase or auto finds nothing. There is no embedded metadata in the files, except language tags for the audio.

Plex also shows the two versions as separate movies and each one needs to be manually matched, and then they are combined as two versions of the same movie.

Apologies for the long post, tried to include as much necessary info as possible. I don’t know which logs you may need, but can send them if you let me know.

I do experience the same problem as described by @leelynds, except that matching was working after updating Plex and degraded within the last 24 hours. At the moment freebase isn’t usable at all.

I have the same issue although mine happened about a half-day before updating.

I have had some issues with Freebase matching movies over the last 2-3 days, as well. I had to perform a manual Match using the TMDB agent in order to get those to match. But Freebase did normally match the only two movies that I added today, so who knows?

Here are 2 examples of movies I’m unable to match:
tt4471388 Mafia: Survival Game (2016)
tt1291570 Solace (2015)
I’ve tried matching with IMBD-ID, original title and all sorts of variations. No luck. Older movies were matching some minutes ago, allthough IMDB-ID matching isn’t working at all.
TMDB as primary agent isn’t an option for me, as this would render me unable to detect duplicates. Also, some no IMDB-rating and so on.

older movies are matching for me also - unfortunately though, almost nothing from 2016 will match to anything

I am also having this problem. I have reordered using the recommended agent settings but nothing is working…all movies added since the update do not match, download metadata, or posters.

Is anyone else also getting a frequent “There was an unexpected error loading the dashboard
Please visit our forums if you continue to experience problems” message?

Yeah I’m having a problem with Freebase. It doesn’t seem to want to match any new content coming in. I switched over to The Movie Database (TMDB) and it seems to be fine now. Just kind of weird since Freebase is supposed to include TMDB from my understanding.

I switched to TMDB as well but still not working for me

I can confirm that this problem is not bound to the server version. I have not changed version nor settings and the movies stopped matching today.

It seems to be a problem either with the online sources or with plex cache servers.

Something wrong with Freebase I think. Seems a lot of people are having this problem since yesterday or so. Even switching to The Movie Database for matching movies, it works, but now won’t pull any trailers or extras.

Having the same issue and TMDB is not finding matches either. Help!!!

Having same issue as others. Just updated to new version as well.

Found a work around until its fixed is to press …>match>search options> delete the year>search, then choose the movie, it has work for me for 3 movies now.

Nice one coz2001 this totally works for me as well. Just tried it on 8 movies.

Doesn’t work for me. What does work in my case is specifically select TMDB in the search options, and leave all of the other fields as they are (including the year) I don’t seem to be getting any of the extras like trailers and behind the scenes though. I think they are a Freebase bonus only.

Use Filebot to change the movie name to the proper name. and don’t use Freebase. Next click on the pen edit library. next click on advance then agent. then The Movie Database. Then click on your library then on the top right click on the gear icon then select refresh all
Never use Freebase.

sometimes TVDB does not work properly so change the agent to The Movie Database. you can try it on that individual tv series or entire library. don’t forget to use Filebot to get the proper tv show names so plex can read it.

Just youtube Filebot

Thanks @melendez1981 but that is pretty much exactly the same as doing the manual match methods suggested above, so it’s not a solution for me - just a different work around. I prefer to use Freebase as the default agent because it provides the extras such as Trailers, and then choose the TMDB as the first or top agent in the settings for Freebase. In theory, the way I have it configured, Plex should search TMDB first, and then Freebase for other information.

There is a problem currently when using the Freebase agent and newer movies. Plex is aware and looking for a fix.
