Movie missing from ways to watch and watchlist

I’ve added a movie to the watchlist, ‘Red Notice’ on Netflix, by searching in the Discover section. I find the movie, and ways to watch briefly displays, then disappears. I’ve added it to the watchlist and it does not show up there. However when I search for it again in the ‘Discover’ section, it says it is in the watchlist. I can add other items from Netflix to the watchlist, and they add fine. All the other items that actually do show up in the watchlist, show ways to watch. I wonder if other titles are exhibiting the same behavior. Thanks.

Which web browser are you using to look at the watchlist?
Are there any browser add-ins activated?
Make sure to use the hosted web app.

I do use the hosted web app, the ‘Discover’ item does not show up when accessing my Plex server directly, which I believe is ‘by design.’ I use the Edge browser. I just tried Chrome and ‘Red Notice’ does show up in the watchlist, but when I select it, there are no ‘Watch from these Locations.’ Pinterest is the only add-on. Also, Red Notice does not show up in the watchlist on my Android phone, but other titles do. The app is version 9.0.5.31871

Please post the contents of the guid="... XML property from the Plex media info XML of this movie.

(do NOT post a link to the XML)

I don’t see the get info selection, perhaps because it’s not in my library? Items which I have recorded from live tv do have a get info selection. Also, I edited my previous post adding the title does not show up in the watchlist on the app on my Android phone where the other titles that I have added do.

Items in your watchlist do not have a triple dot menu, in order to get a “Get Info” option for the XML. Even if you have the movie, if it is in the watchlist it turns into an entry that seems to have been pulled from watch.plex.tv, rather than the metadata from your own library. I tested this out with Red Notice in particular. It detects that I have the movie on my server and offers that as a way to view it, but does not link to Netflix, only my own copy.

Going to the watch.plex.tv site for Red Notice here, it does not appear to know that it is available on Netflix. Seems Plex’s database is just missing that connection. Other Netflix movies (Tested with Apollo 10 and 1/2) do show as available on Netflix, just not Red Notice.

At the risk of posting something incorrect, looking further down on the instructions for Plex Media Info, by right clicking on the Red Notice page and viewing source, I get the following. I believe what divideby0 said is correct, Plex is missing the Red Notice watch info in their database. As I mentioned, I have other Netflix items on my watchlist which display a watch from these locations link. At the risk of posting something incorrect, here is the ‘View Source’ from the Red Notice page displayed by the Plex hosted Site, though I believe anyone searching for Red Notice will not have a ‘watch from these locations’ link.

Plex

Apparently, I can’t post the ‘View Source’ info since it is HTML. I believe searching for Red Notice in ‘Discover’ will show there are no watch options, and it is in Netflix.

Try to use the “Blockquote” feature of the forums to try to get it to paste as-is.

Edit: Nope, that didn’t work.

Since neither you (divideby0) or I can’t see the ‘watch on these services’ for this title, it seems like a Plex issue anyway. Does this community forum get to them or is there a better place to ask?

…if that helps.

I’ve just kinda assumed that this being a “Beta” feature, that bugs like individual movies missing the proper “ways to watch” will probly get fixed eventually.

I have the same problem with the beta watchlist appearing at https://app.plex.tv/desktop showing more movies than in the watchlist appearing in plex on my Samsung TV. There is no discernable pattern to this. In addition my plex media server on my PC does not provide the discover and watch list option either though I have signed up to this Beta. Strange it is missing from the PC but the option is available on my TV. I hope somebody can help me close the gaps as I have been hoping for this functionality for some time.

You have to use the hosted web app.

Thanks for your reply. I assume by “hosted web app” you mean the PC won’t display the beta and I have to use: Plex??
That still doesn’t explain the TV’s watchlist missing some of the movies that appear in the watch list of the “hosted web app”. Do you have any suggestions as to potential cuases or fixes.
Many thanks,
Michael.

Can a Plex moderator or somebody from the community help with explaining why my discover watchlist on my samsung TV and android devices is not showing all of my watchlist movies??
Many thanks,
Michael Power.

Dear Plex Moderator,
Further to my earlier post I have various movies appearing in my plex web discover watch list that do not appear on my android TV. I have searched these community pages and it does not provide any solutions. Can you guide me as to any potential solutions???
Many thanks,
Michael Power.

There is always going to be random things that might be missing as far as individual movies especially brand new or random old ones. Sometimes it might be because we have incorrect data for a region or the sources we use to find movies, release dates, and where they are available have not been updated yet or other various data sync issues.
