Movie titles display incorrectly

A number of movies in my Plex server are displaying incorrect titles. They are wildly off base. what can I do to fix this? Most of the movies on my server are fine, but it’s just a few that are incorrect.

the first step to ensuring proper matching of your movies is to follow Plex’ naming conventions.
example 1:
Movies / <- the folder added to your library
.. Ant-Man (2015) / <- the folder of your movie
.. .. Ant-Man (2015).mkv <- the movie file (exact same name as its parent folder!)
.. .. poster.jpg <- any local extra such as a poster image etc…

example 2:
Movies / <- the folder added to your library
.. Ant-Man (2015).mkv <- the movie file
.. Ant-Man (2015)-poster.jpg <- local extras without folder structure

if this doesn’t help… can you please give an example of how you’ve structured and named your videos?

PS: if you use mp4/m4v files with embedded metadata and have local media assets activated with high priority in your library, the embedded metadata might have been used instead

Thank you very much for your help! I will try this great suggestion.

I tried your suggestion but it didn’t solve the problem. I have random movies’ descriptions attached to these movie files. Is there any way to remove the wrong images/descriptions?

Are your files MP4?
Are you downloading directly into the Plex media folders?
Please tell us some file names of movies which get mis-recognized.
