I’m having issues with Plex naming my Movies/Shows. It is finding the movies correctly and gets all the right info, it is just that it is showing the title of them movie in a messed up format. For example, instead of just “Concussion”, it is showing up as “Concussion.2015.1080p.BluRay.H264.AAC-RARBG”. It just started doing this recently and doesn’t do it to all movies and shows, just some of them. I’ve updated Plex to the most recent version and it still does it. Any ideas on how to get it to show just the real title.

Have you read through the naming guides?

Check if the file has embedded metadata (specifically the title). If it’s matching and giving a name like that (must have got it from a torrent) this is likely the case. If the metadata exists you have 2 options:
- Remove the metadata so it’s not an issue, this title that they have set it mostly worthless anyway.
- In Settings -> Server -> Agents: In the appropriate agent that you are using, move Local Media Assets to the bottom (or turn it off).
Me personally, I would just remove the metadata, but if you don’t use any local assets then you won’t notice it missing and won’t have to remove the metadata from the file.
