Something that keeps popping into my head whilst using the Plex DVR is, wouldn’t it be cool if you could set up a wishlist of movies and TV shows that you wanted to watch so that if/when they appear in the program guide, they are automatically added to the recording schedule. I initially came about the idea by wondering if it would be possible to create a similar thing to the program guide section My Upcoming Shows for movies and their MovieDB collections.
i.e. I have the movie Alien in my movie library. As it is part of the Alien collection via MovieDB, it would be great if there was a section for My Upcoming Collections in program guide for any other movies in that collection, as and when they appear in the guide. For example, Aliens and Alien 3 would be recognised as part of the collection and flag them for possible viewing/recording. This could cause a HUGE list of items I understand, so perhaps it could be limited to movies that aren’t already part of your library? For example, I have Alien and Alien 3, so the collection would only show Aliens, Alien Resurrection etc, and NOT Alien or Alien 3 as upcoming movie suggestions.
The reason this came about for me was that I had the original Child’s Play movies, but not of the newer Chucky films. Recently, Curse of and Seed of Chucky appeared as I trawled through the upcoming films and so recorded them. The problem was that Bride of Chucky, the first in those three movies had already been shown and I’d missed it and I’m now loathed to watch the two recorded without watching them in the correct order.
On top of this, from time to time, a film or TV show will pop into my head or will see has recently been on TV, but is no longer available to create either a series link for or there are no new showings of the film in the near future. It would be great to create a kind of wishlist of shows and movies that I don’t want to miss and want to record, should they ever come back on again.
i.e. I have missed the movie Pulp Fiction, which was on a day or two ago, but doesn’t appear in the upcoming program guide. To make sure I don’t miss it if it comes on again, I can add it to a wishlist, based upon the scanning agent my library uses, to make sure that it recognises the correct film, and if/when it comes back onto the guide, it automatically schedules a recording. Likewise with TV shows.
I hope that makes sense and is something others might like or find useful. I’ve searched the forums but can’t find anyone else suggesting it, hope I haven’t duplicated if it has.
