Server Version#: v.1.41.3.9314-a0bfb8370 MacOS 15.2
Hi,
I have a Plex Server installed on a Mac Mini M4 (Sequoia, fully up-to-date).
My movies and TV shows are stored on three Synology NAS devices (each with a separate share).
I access my shares from the Mac Mini via SMB.
I can navigate my shares without any issues from the Mac, which confirms there are no permission problems. Through the SMB shares, I can see all my media files correctly.
My library is organized as follows (share folder on my Synology NAS):
/Data
/Media
/Movies
/Lethal Weapon 3 (1992) {imdb-tt0104714}
Lethal Weapon 3 (1992) {imdb-tt0104714} [Remux-1080p][AC3 5.1][VC1]-ROMKENT.mkv
The structure is consistent across all three NAS devices for both movies and TV shows.
The issue I’m facing is that Plex isn’t finding the correct number of media files (both movies and TV shows).
Currently, in my Movies library, Plex shows 2,006 movies without any filters:
![]()
However, across my three NAS devices, I have 3,077 movie folders, meaning over 1,000 movies are missing.
Among the 2,006 movies Plex detects, there are entries from all three NAS devices, so I know it’s not a share permission issue specific to one NAS.
I’ve tried renaming some movies and rescanning the library, but that didn’t resolve the issue.
I can’t identify any logic to this problem, and it’s driving me crazy.
Steps I’ve already tried:
- Completely erasing everything Plex-related on my Mac and recreating the server from scratch → Same issue persists.
- Setting up a test Plex server using Docker on one of my NAS devices → Found more movies (over 3,000) but still not the correct total.
Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?
This is driving me completely insane!
PS: I’m using the Plex Movie scanner and agent.
Thanks!
