“Movies” and “TV Shows” not showing at all for my brother (iOS)

So I’m trying to set Plex up so that my brother can access my content on his new iPad I bought for him. I have enabled remote access. I am able to view content on my iPad and my iPhone (but not my Google TV. Plex seems to have quietly disabled Plex working on any Android device. I have to cast from my iPhone to my Google TV for it to work). I can also access my library when my iPhone is on 4G (not my network), and I can also access my library on my iPad with my hotspot turned on (again, not my network).

For testing purposes, I had my friend try to access my content from his phone, but he’s on Android, so 0% chance of that working.

I gave my brother my username and password. He was able to log into my account, but the “movies” and “tv shows” menu items aren’t even visible at all. It only shows paid content. I tried having him create his own account, and I shared my content with him. “Movies” and “tv shows” still aren’t visible from the menu at all. I logged into his account on my iPad (still on the 4G hotspot, not my network) and it works perfectly. I can see the “movies” and “tv shows” menu items, and content plays properly.

His internet is working. He downloaded Plex over his internet. He signed into Plex successfully on his internet. He created his own account on his internet. Could someone shine a light on what is going on here? Does my iPhone and iPad have a hidden 4TB worth of space that is reserved for my Plex library? That’s the only logical reason I can come up with for how it works on my iPad (older than his) and my iPhone

Nope. I’m a big Android user and still working on all my devices. If you can your brother to provide the Android logs from his device, I can take a look.

Each individual player’s Pinned sources changes from player to player. What is displayed (and in what order) on one iOS device will not be the same on another iOS device, even if you log in under the same account. This sounds like you simply don’t have the libraries Pinned to the side bar.

I am using the web interface, but the iOS interface is similar (The iOS Plex app? You don’t have a Plex Pass. Did you pay $5 to unlock use of the Plex app on iOS?). Tap the triple line “Hamburger” icon on the left to expand the sidebar, and scroll to the bottom and tap More.
Sidebar

The server you run (and any others you might have access to) should be listed here, with all the individual libraries under them. In iOS, you need to tap Edit in the upper right corner, and you should now see a pushpin icon next to all the libraries. Tap them so they light up orange, and that library should be pinned to the sidebar for easier future access.
Pinned

I don’t like how the pinned sources and the order they are in are not saved by the server and preserved when you first log into an account on a new device. I have multiple TVs, multiple mobile devices, and had to set up the pinned sources and order for every single one of them.

As for Android devices not working, it’s working for us. There may be some older android devices (smart TV’s) that lost the ability to securely connect due to an expired security certificate, but that can be fixed with a simple configuration change to the server and the TV.

About you being unable to access the server locally is most likely a subnetting network issue. It’s might some in-depth troubleshooting to fix, so let us know if being unable to access the server locally is an issue (you mention it, but didn’t complain about it).
