Can view media, but not view media libraries from Plex apps only

Server Version#: 1.41.3.9314
Player Version#: Various
Gateway/Router: AT&T Fiber BGW320
Server Hardware: Desktop running Windows 11

I have an interesting situation. When using certain Plex apps, I am unable to view my media libraries by clicking on Movies and TV Shows via the sidebar. When I click on either one of those and get taken to the Recommended tab I get the error “SERVER NAME is Currently Unavailable – Please verify that the server is running and has a network connection.” I get that same error if I click on the Library tab. I do not get any error when clicking on the Collections or Playlists tabs. However, from those same devices, on the sidebar for Home, Watchlist, Playlists, etc. I am able to see the latest movies and tv shows (including my most recent under Continue Watching). I can also play any movies and tv shows that are displayed there. To further confuse the issue, on those same devices, I am able to login using a web browser (via 192.168.1.xxx:32400/web and app.plex.tv/desktop) and have no issues viewing my media library through the Movies and TV Shows links in the sidebar

The issue occurs when using Plex apps on my iPhone, iPad, and the Android app via Google TV/Chromecast. The issues does NOT occur when using the Plex app built into my LG TV. I have double checked my iOS settings and confirmed that Settings > Apps > Plex > Local Network is turned on for all iOS devices. I have re-installed the Plex apps on both devices. I have restarted all devices. I have not uninstalled and reinstalled the Plex server as I am fearful about losing my metadata, but I have re-installed the latest Plex Server version (64-bit) overtop of my existing installation (which was previously 32-bit). None of these have resolved the issue.

I have confirmed that the symptoms appear both when connected to the local network and when connecting remotely. I have confirmed that there is a green check on under Server > Settings > Remote Access. I am using the standard port (32400).

I have tried adding my server IP address under Server > Settings > Network > Custom server access URLs (https://192.168.1.xxx:32400) and I have also tried adding my subnet to Server > Settings > Network > List of IP addresses and networks that are allowed without auth (192.168.1.0/24).

Hey! First of all, sorry if I don’t follow some sort of structure, this is my first post and just wanted to chip in.

I don’t know if you eventually figured it out or not, but today, while I was transitioning from jellyfin to plex, I just came across a similar problem.
Everything would work as expected on my PC’s browser, but when I tried to use the iOS app, the libraries would simply not open. I could go to Home >> Recently Added and they would play as expected. Connected to the local wifi or 5G
I spent about 4 hours trying to figure it out, and just ended up quitting. Later, I added my GFs account to the Plex Home thing, and on her iPhone the libraries button worked instantly, so that gave me an idea.

Before the fix, I tried this:

  1. Create a random managed user
  2. Give it permission to all libraries
  3. Change to this new user
  4. See if it’s resolved

On the managed account I created it displaying the libraries on that account as well, so I did the following:

What I did to fix it:

  1. I removed my account from the “server claim” thing
  2. Created a new Plex account
  3. Claimed the server with the new account
  4. Logged out of my old plex account on my iphone and logged in with the new one
  5. Everything works as expected now

Hope this works for anyone who’s facing the same issue!

Thank you for the reply. I did try deleting/re-adding users, as well as the “server claim” thing you mentioned. These did not work for me.

Ultimately, I had to wipe all of my Plex settings and start with a completely clean installation. I have not had any issues since.
