I’ve started configuring some of my other users to have content filtered by content rating and I noticed that the content ratings are a complete and utter mess. I’ve tried refreshing my entire library metadata but despite having all US mainstream release movies in my library I have the following
12
Approved
G
M
NR
Not Rated
PG
PG-13
Passed
R
Unrated
None
Now I can understand the Unrated but 12 and Approved? I’ve checked my Plex Movie settings and Ratings are set to pull from TMD with the country set to US. And I’ve checked some of these moves on TMD and they have the expected ratings. I’ve even tried deleting the content rating, unlocking the field, and refreshing the metadata but I still get these weird ones.
Filter for the movie(s) which have the ‘12’ rating.
Check which file container format they use. If it’s the mp4/m4v container, the ‘12’ can also be embedded in the file itself, in a meta tag.
By default, Plex will give embedded metatags priority.
Would make sense if the data comes from the same place. If this is it, there is nothing to be done unless Plex decides to fix it some day. Might as well save your time debugging for something better.
