Movies on ATV only when signed into MyPlex! Library Empty

Did you try disabling GDM auto discovery in settings.cfg and hard coding your PMS IP in there.

delete the old certs on the atv's via settings/profiles and Install the new cert you generated on the atv's then restart the atv's, point your dns to 192.168.1.110 & leave your ip automatic on the atv, try trailers wait for it to load plexconnect on the atv's for like 30sec. I assume all you changed in the new plexconnect was adding trailers.pem into /assets/certificates, nothing else.

I removed the old certs prior to installing the new ones.  When I go to Settings/Gen/Profiles, I see only the new cert. When I swapped out or refreshed Plexconnect, I deleted the previous folder and replaced it with the same, but a fresh version.  Then I added the .pem file to the certs folder as instructed.

I rebooted the ATV.  Accessing trailers just spins for about a minute, then I get the message "Trailers is unavailable. Try again later."

I did everything that you described.  I verified that only the new certs are on the ATV's.  I'm going to do something to rule out my PC.  I'm going to install PMS on my macbookpro, gen a cert and add it to the ATV and see if I can get the mac to work.  If I can get the mac to work then something must be wierd about my Win7, however I don't know what.

As I stated before.  Last night or early this morning in fact, I was playing movies on my ATV3.  The only issue was I had to sign into MyPlex on the PMS and on the ATV in order for me to see my library under the PMS setting.

Now I can't even get the PlexConnect menu.   I just don't get it.

To Plex Star,

Yes I tried that, but same situation!  I really don't want to have to re-install Win7.

Sounds like you have everthing ruled out but the os, has to be something with windows 7. Try your mac, you can even use the same cert on your mac from your pc. If you visit 192.168.1.110 from a browser what does it say?

This is what I get when I type 192.168.1.110 in a browser:

Error response

Error code 403.

Message: Not Serving Client 192.168.1.110.

Error code explanation: 403 = Request forbidden -- authorization will not help.

Weird, that means plexconnect is working on the pc. What is your network config from the pc to the atv's. Also if you are using a different device then the pc using a browser on a seperate device is it the same error with a different not serving client ip?

I'm running a linksys e4200 dual band wireless router.  My PC which holds my movie library connects to the lan via a 5ghz wireless card.  My apple TV's are also on the 5ghz frequency.  My signal strength is excellent on all.  I get 300mbps on my PC.  All clients are on the same subnet.  Can you please clarify (Also if you are using a different device then the pc using a browser on a seperate device is it the same error with a different not serving client ip?)?

Say you have a macbook browse to 192.168.1.110 in safari and tell me the error. You say lan and wireless card which is it ethernet or a wifi card from your windows pc to the router.

Post pics of your firewall config please.

Ok so if I attempt to browse to 192.168.1.110 from another computer on my Local Area Network (LAN or lan), I just get the connection word spinning, but nothing resolves.  The connection times out.  I mean my local area network when I stated wireless and lan.  So Wireless from PC to Router and wireless from router to either apple TV.

I have a total of 3 ATV's one is ATV3.  The other two were previously jailbroken running plex.  Plex worked fine and movies streamed fine on the jailbroken ATV's.  I recently reflashed one of my ATV2's to test against the ATV3 just to see if there was a difference, not the same issue exists on both.

Post pics of your firewall config please.

Here is a screen of my Windows firewall settings

What is the screen if you click on the python entry?

It is very likely a Windows config issue.

Hold that thought.  So I installed PMS on my MBP and installed and ran the script for plexconnect.  I did add the trailers.pem cert to the certificates folder.

Looking at the Monitor window I can see the MBP passing DNS requests and all the ATV icons are populating.  However, when I click on the Trailers icon, Immediately without pause, I get:

"Trailers is unavailable.  Try again later".

Looks like a cert issue maybe.  I'm thinking about generating the cert on my macbookpro and inserting it into the ATV.  Then copy the .pem cert from the macbook pro over to the PC and see if that helps.

Thoughts?

Also here is a deeper look at my firewall settings.

UPDATE!  On My MBP I had to add an additional file to the certificates folder "trailers.cer" in addition to the trailers.pem.

I manually installed the cert on the apple tv via the URL process and it works.  The movies show up in the correct place and they play!!!!!

I'm now going to change the IP back to my PC and see if its fixed there.  Maybe it was a cert problem all along.  I will report back in a few.

I figured it out!!!

In my Firewall settings it looks like Python.exe was accepted for UDP traffic only.  I set it to ANY which would include possible TCP traffic and IT WORKS!!!!!

My Movies show up in the Library regardless of whether or not I'm logged into MyPlex!!!

Thanks for all of your help and things to try.  Looking deeper into my firewall settings is what fixed it.

Good stuff  glad you got it. Figured it was something with your os.
