<logs folder is a little over 1gb, verbose logging not enable>
Problem seems to coincide with my media server cache SSD being momentarily disconnected while server was running, but no clients were connected at the time and no scans were in progress.
I plugged another drive into my 4 port sabrient HD drive dock thinking that “hot swapable” …meant it was actually hot swapable. Which it isn’t. When I did this it disconnected all the drives in my dock momentarily …including my Plex SSD data drive. Since then no new metadata will update.
I’ve tried a few things …I turned off IPV6(read that could be an issue). performed a few server reboots and computer restarts …went in and re “saved” settings directing the server to use that drive.
Refreshing metadata does nothing …matching finds nothing from either agents. I am at a loss and extremely annoyed. Should I try reinstalling the server?

Otherwise server seems to be functioning normally …including remote access.
Please drag the zip file into the message editor of this forum.
Can’t too big… that’s why I provided a onedrive link.
Music matching seems to still work. Just added albums and they loaded up.
There is no need to include the ‘Installer logs’ subfolder.
And you can also omit the “DLNA” logs.
Did you add whole hard drives worth of media in one day?
Whatever happened on your server was flushed out of the logs by your music addition.
Disable thumbnails generation and intro detection for now under Settings - Server - Library.
Then stop and restart the server.
Wait 5 minutes.
Fetch log files under
Settings - Server - Manage - Troubleshooting
…awhile back I acquired a sizable m4v collection which after it trimmed it down and added it to my collection it was probably around 3,500 movies. 8tb worth. but that was over a month ago everything seemed to be working fine. I did turn off thumbnail generation also awhile back because I saw my cache drive was filling up …so those are already off,
Please do as instructed anyway. I am looking for signs of database corruption due to the sudden disconnection of the data folder. These can usually be found in the logs after the server has been starting up.
oops forgot to disable the intro detection before reboot
Is S: your SSD drive?
Is it formatted with the NTFS file system?
How is it connected to the system?
I couldn’t find signs of database damage in the logs.
However, something doesn’t look healthy:
Jun 26, 2020 04:21:03.290 [28880] ERROR - SafelyWriteFile: rename for '"S:\Plex Media Server\Cache\CloudAccessV2.dat.tmp.4f7a22ac-6f0c-45b1-baa2-ee8c7edea9b9"' failed: Access is denied
Side remark: you should weed out your plugins and remove everything which used to give access to media content.
Ya, it’s attached to a dock via USB 3, NTFS
I had temporarily pulled it and put it into another computer to speedtest it with a direct sata connection …and it relabeled the drive letter, which I noticed when a I plugged it back in and changed it back to “S” before restarting server, It’s an older 840 evo …I did enable “Rapid” mode when speed testing on another machine but should that have made a difference? …and it had the issue before I did any of that …I just thought it was a “one off” till I tried loading more movies.
Those plugin are from long time ago …I forgot they were there. I don’t think any provide access to my media …just tried removing them and it say I can’t uninstall.
The plot thickens.
Did you ever start Plex server “As administrator”?
If you did, some of the files and folders on there might have incorrect “owners” and access permissions. You need to reset all of them (hundred thousands) to default permissions, so that the user account under which the server is running has full access permissions.
Here is a graphical tool which works a little bit better than the Windows file explorer “properties”: http://lallouslab.net/2013/08/26/resetting-ntfs-files-permission-in-windows-graphical-utility/
Hmmm… I did do some other things to the drive. It was old system drive and I recent;y merged old partitions …which I should had done before.
Not sure what you mean by start as an administrator? …you mean like run it from a root cmd? No… I don’t think so.
