When I attempt to play anything from “Movies & Shows on Plex” I get the spinning indicator on the web player and “An error occured while attempting to play…” on android devices all while connected to the local LAN. If I use a VPN or connect to mobile internet all plays fine! Live TV shows and local media all play fine either way. What am I missing here? Thanks.

Could I ask if your playing Plex through the Amazon fire stick. I only ask as I too have had the same issue for the past month or so. I then took the stick with me on holiday and connected to my WiFi on my phone and plex played all my movies. Now that I’m home I again can not play anything. Am wondering if it’s the 2.5gh rather than the 5gh for my home WiFi and WD my cloud.

Well, I have experienced the same as you. I was recently on holiday and everything worked fine until I came home. I now suspect that this may be a DNS issue as I use a DNS proxy service at home and when I disable this everything is working again! Maybe you could confirm by changing your DNS and see if this is the same for you.
On my xbox the “movies & shows on plex” won’t even load. It shows the pinned location, but it shows no items. It’s been that way for… i’m not even sure, more than 3 months. I don’t often utilize plex’s internal offerings, so it hasn’t been much of an issue. I would have thought dns issue, but they show up just fine on my server pc, which is on the same network and router. Good to know i’m not the only one that this has happened to though.
