Hi, im using plexconnect and have a really annoying problem, after about 45minutes the movie start to stutter, i think its buffering or something.
if im watching the server window on the computer it starts to get alot of dns requests, and the processor usage starts to jump, from 50% to 100% up and down.
i can restart the movie and it works fine for 45 minutes again, no problem. (this happens with both 1080p 20mbit, and 1080p 40mbit)
the processor is @ 100% usage all the time...
Is the computer too slow?
Intel core 2 quad q6600 @ 3.2ghz with an SSD disk.
If you monitor the CPU usage what is hammering it? Is it the PMS or Python?
its plexnewtranscoder.exe thats hammering out the cpu usage.
If i use subtitles this one maxes out at 100% cpu usage.
And without subtitles its 30% cpu usage, so i guess thats the problem. (havent tried watching a movie for 45min without sub yet)
I've been meaning to buy a new computer with the new haswell CPU's.
If I figure out that it's the plextranscoder (subtitle choise) that makes the movie stutter after 45min, would a new cpu fix the problem? (i was aiming for a i5 4670k)
It should make a huge difference, are you just looking for an excuse to upgrade?
always looking for an excuse to upgrade! :), also it would be nice to see a whole movie without having to restart it two times. (without subs is not an option)
Sometimes I have the same problem with a long movie, next time I will look for the playing time when it happens. After a stop and resume the movie it's over for a while. My server PC is equiped with a Sandy Bridge i7 3.7 GHz so this cannot be the problem but also the cpu usage peaks to 100%!, and yes, I'm using subtitles (Dutch)
The problem occurs only for long movies, 720p or 1080p, mkv or mp4. TV episodes are mostly OK.
