All of the sudden im having issues with audio and video stuttering

I have been using plex for almost a year now and just recently when streaming to devices on my network I am getting audio and video stuttering. Very frustrating as I didn’t have any issues previously. Where do I start?

Does it happen all the time or only after 20 - 30 minutes of watching, is it direct stream from a DVR?

It seems to be happening all the time. It does not happen immediately but after a video has been playing for a few min’s then it starts happening. My plex server is a computer that running windows 10 pro with I-7 6700k. I never see the cpu spike or max out. Not direct play.

So apparently it’s subtitles that are causing the stutter. When I turn them off everything works fine. This didn’t happen before. I guess I am going to try and roll the server version back. Anyone else had this issue and know what version broke subtitles?

I rolled back to a 1.15 version and it seems to be working fine now. I went back really far but i dont really care as long as it works heh. If someone knows a better version let me know.

I have the same issue and it’s very frustrating… 1.15 is far back but I might give it a go. Why the heck does it happen… My TV signal is great, and everything is direct stream on a i7-8650.

Here is my post … On occasion Direct play video and sound not in sync after being glitchy

Tell me if it’s the same issue you had.

I’ve seen several posts on the forums that with 1.18 there’s some buggy Hardware transcoding happening. I think it’s specifically related to Intel CPU’s, as I have had 0 problems with my NVIDIA GPU doing the transcoding, and I haven’t seen anyone else complaining about GPU transcoding. If you want the latest version and don’t want it to happen, you can shut off hardware transcoding till it’s working again, or you can roll back to 1.17 for now…

I went out and got a gtx 1660 a little bit ago and re-updated to the latest version of plex and it still happened 8( . I rolled the plex server back and it’s working. I rolled it back to the last 1.15 version. Was really hoping the transcoding with the nvidia gpu would fix the issue.

yes, but you have an Intel CPU, right? It may prefer to use the Intel QSV over the NVIDIA NVENC… I am not sure which takes priority…

Yes, but after I installed the GPU I then played something to transcode and I watched the GPU not the CPU usage jump up this to me would mean it’s using the GPU and not the CPU. I just wish they would fix it. I mean it works correctly on an older version heh.
