I get a small selection of unknown Movies on the Xbox One app (maybe 50), so I went hunting on my PC (Chrome) for the illusive “thousands of movies” quoted by many news articles.
And I get this message:

I suppose you’re referring to the list of popular movies shown on the home page or on the main hubs of “Movies & TV”. You’ll notice there’s more when you look into the related items of those movies/shows or by searching.
As for the Chrome issues…
could you share some details on what version of the browser and what plug-ins / extensions you have installed?
Yeh on Xbox I had 50 “popular” films, all of which I have never heard of, and a “Christmas” category.
Searching yields only results on my server, not the streaming free movie side.
Opera doesnt give me the option to stream any film, the lowest it goes is TIDAL.
Chrome extensions - I have Hola and AdBlock, both were turned off for this test.
Is there a browser I should be using for streaming free movies?

It’s been working fine for me on Safari and Firefox.
Sounds like you haven’t pinned the “Movies & TV” library… in that case you also won’t get immediate search results. If you click Move> you can pick the Movies & TV on Plex library and see more hubs.
As for your PC/browser… anything blocking the required DRM? (e.g. reverse firewall…)
