It doesn’t matter whether I select the movies using the ‘select’ function when viewing the library in poster view (or any other view for that matter) or whether I use the ‘edit’ function to ‘add’ a collection. Whichever method I use, it appears that my collection is not being created, and subsequently my movies are not being added to it. Help please?? Thanks in advance.
Apparent issue at present. I was able to get it to work by using the edit function and then below the new collection name, clicking on “Add new ‘collection name’”. Then hit save.
Yeah I’ve tried both methods for creating a new collection and neither will generate/save the collection and/or add my chosen movies to it…
Before you go spend hours adding lots of movies to collections - be sure you know how collections are used/viewed from plex clients. many folks in these forums are not happy with how they’re implemented in Plex. For instance, you cannot have a simple view of a full library showing all collections along side all ‘singles’.

Absolutely… The implementation of collections is so inconvenient I created separate folders with the group of movies (or you could create links to the movies that are in the large library) and added the folder as a new library. It puts them on the main menu which is nice. The other alternative is to create playlists.
I had hoped to create collections for the groupings… but after testing how to gain access to them etc. it was clear it wasnt going to work out.
