Moving from Synology box too Windows box

Hello all

Very happy Plex user (Lifetime pass) and been happily running it for years on an Xpenology server (Synology).

Time has come to move it to a PC. It will be a fresh install on the PC and I plan to simply move all my media to the PC and the rip out the drivers / sell the other little server.

I’ve read lots of complicated information about transferring to another system - but I don’t care about losing any user data - and will simply let the libraries rebuild.

Is there an easy way to do it? Kill the old server first (my account is linked to my email address)? I’ve just logged into the fresh install on the Windows PC and my Xpenology server has appeared

Thanks in advance

Si

EDIT - I’ve set it up (just to test) and can just see both servers when I log in. That feels pretty straight forward then - simply rebuild the media libraries on the Windows PC then close down/delete the original.

Just install PMS on Windows and go with it.

You can have multiple servers on an account. It is OK to leave the Synology based server running until the new one is fully online.

Cheers. Got them both showing and running now…

How easy is it to delete one off my account? Can’t see an option…

When ready to decommission, remove it from Authorized Devices (click on red X): https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/settings/devices/pms

If you are sharing libraries with others, you may have to manually remove those shares.
