Moving Libraries from Windows PC to Synology NAS

I searched but did not find anything super specific to this topic. Currently have my 4K Rips and 4k Demos on my DS918+ but have been thinking that I should move my 7-8TB of TV shows, Kids Movies, Movies and Photos to my Synology and what the impact on my PMS will be?
PMS (iMac) runs on my 2.8ghz i5 Macand serves the 7-8TB of media
PMS (Synology) also runs on my new 918 to serve the 4K content. This was a test and seems to work for my needs.

Looking for advice on 2 things. Moving the libraries and will I need to re-download all of my Metadata for those?
Advice on maintaining the 2 PMS installs in its current state? I have 1 4K TV that I use 99% of the time and the other TV is where my wife watches the other media.

Fantastic. Sorry that I didn’t look deep enough for that. Just a quick questions. If my library folders are on the root of the Windows Home PC Server:
TV Shows
Videos
Kids Movies
etc

Can I just recreate those at the root of the NAS volume and not create a main folder?

Ok that makes sense. Sorry again for not referring to the FAQ as it is an excellent resource.
So basically create the Root and sub folders as per FAQ and then map it to my Home Server and begin moving the media to the specific sub folders 1 at a time.
Then Follow the FAQ to get my iMac to find the new libraries on the NAS and the Metadata will be intact…in a nutshell (by exactly following the directions on Q25)

Hi. I plan to do this on the weekend as it appears plex will be down for awhile as the media is moved. My question pertains to the fact that i am not really moving the plex server…only the media files to new shares. Do I still follow the exact same procedure? I plan to still have PMS on my iMac which I believe is where all the metadata is stored. Thats where I am confused as I only moving the SMB shares to a new location NOT PMS to the Synology. Only 4K shares will be running on the PMS residing on the Synology.

Thanks again. Should I move the hidden jpegs as well or just the media files (MKV’s)? I assume the jpegs are the thumbnails.
Also should I disable automatic updates on the Movies Library while I am moving the files? If so I cannot seem to find in the settings for the Movies library.

While moving:

  1. Disable automatic updates
  2. Disable “Empty Trash after every scan” (don’t want to lose the metadata and history)
