Moving movies & series to a new HDD - Don't want to loose metadata

Hi,

My current MybookDUO drive is up to it’s limit and i want to change it to another larger HDD. O course i don’t want to loose any metadata i’ve manually altered in the past couple of years. I followed the guide posted on this site (https://support.plex.tv/articles/201154537-move-media-content-to-a-new-location/); but it doesn’t work: some content is using entirely other metadata which i was using in my prior HDD.

Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks!

Server Version#: 4.87.2
Player Version#: N/A

  1. Restore an old database backup to revert the outcome of the failed attempt above.

  2. Shut down the server

  3. Copy all the media to the new drive, retaining folder names, folder structure, and file names

  4. swap the drive letters of new and old drive https://www.howtogeek.com/96298/assign-a-static-drive-letter-to-a-usb-drive-in-windows-7/

  5. Start Plex server

As far as Plex server is concerned, nothing has changed since all media are accessible under the same folder path as before.

Thanks! But i followed the steps for changing the location of the drive since i will still be using my old one.
