Moving plex

I currently have my plex server set up on my old windows 10 computer. With windows 10 nearing the end of support from Microsoft is there a program or software that i could reinstall on my computer then install my plex onto that? Currently my plex program is on its own drive then all the media is on another drive.

Windows 10 does not reach end of support until 2025. See https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/lifecycle/products/windows-10-home-and-pro.

Regarding moving Plex to a new system, the basic approach is to install Plex Media Server on the new system, then copy the Plex Data Folder (database, etc.) from the old system to the new system.

There are guides to help with the process:

If you are moving to Linux, the Plex Linux FAQ has helpful information regarding running Plex on Linux and moving from another platform to Linux.

Migration from another OS to Linux

You can kinda prepare for an easier move by doing the following:

Once the new machine has arrived and has its operating system installed, you then simply take all the drives and SSDs out of the old machine and pop them into the new machine.
All that then needs to be done is to

  • assign each drive the drive letter it had on the old machine.
  • import the registry backup
