MP4 files not playing

My Apple TV Plex App recently updated to version 8.23.1 and now it won’t play mp4 files.
I have version 8.22 running on another Apple TV and it DOES play mp4 files.
I have checked all the settings and they are identical on both devices.
I checked all the settings on the desktop, tried restarting everything…still no luck. This seems to happen almost every time there is an update of some part of the Plex system.

Ok, I solved the problem.
Episode playback settings for video quality must be set to “convert automatically”. I have never had to do this before!!!
