MPEG4 does not play on Fire 4K

one of the movies i am playing on firestick 4k is doing transcoding and on apple tv it doesnt, this is the first time i observed it and i even disabled the subtitles. It says device cannot play this video format at 1920x816

i even tried enabling the old player on plex app on firestick and turned off the transcode interlace live tv as well. Wired connection

I split your comment to it’s own thread. The other one was about 4K content.

I believe it has to do with the type of file you have. Can you provide me the XML from Plex for that video?

Did you ever resolve this?

The video being Level 1 looks inaccurate - the bitrate is too high for Level 1. That could trigger a transcode.

That makes me wonder if there are file vs. header discrepancies. That could also trigger a transcode.

Did you rip this yourself? If so did you choose MPEG4 deliberately?

ended up converting it to a mkv and i think that solved the issue without compromising the quality.

Awesome. I wonder if it was the container change itself, or if that also fixed up other container vs. stream discrepancies, or if the remuxing itself helped by better interleaving audio & video.

Anyway, great!
