Msg: This application is at and is not hosted by Plex. Continue only if you recognize this server and wish to grant access

I just installed Plex media server on a clean Ubuntu 20.04 install locally. When I log in from firefox i get the message This application is at and is not hosted by Plex. Continue only if you recognize this server and wish to grant access. after I try to log in locally with my local ip address. Then when i switch browsers to chrome. I can log in but I can’t add my library to plex because it keeps directing me to https://app.plex.tv/ Then it wants me to download the server software again. I have the lifetime pass and have had plex setup before.

This is probably a certificate issue? Do you have certs setup on your Ubuntu machine and do you have Plex set to load them? Make sure you are loading http and not https in your browser and that your browser is not redirecting to https.

I figured it out. It’s because I have my plex server on a headless server. So I technically wasn’t logging into my server. So to fix it. I had to create an ssh tunnel to be able to login to http://localhost:32400/web in chrome. I don’t know what’s going on with firefox. But at least I was able to login with chrome to finish off my setup of the plex server.
