Multi Episode in one file Tv show

so if episode 1 and 2 were in a file in would play episode 1 then jump to episode 3 to avoid repeating itself,

now it will play 1 then 2 then 3, so you end up watching the same 2 episodes twices, any way to fix this or is this just how plex is now?

Plex doesn’t know what’s in the video of any files, so this behavior depends on how you are naming your files.

If your file is named S01E01, and Plex only matches it as E01, it will only play through the file once. You can just leave E02 out.

If the file is named S01E01E02, and Plex matches that as both E01 and E02, it will play the same file twice, with both episodes twice, as you describe.

For some shows this is difficult to resolve, especially if they were aired that way or released on DVD that way, but are referenced individually on TVDB.

If it’s a few special episodes in a “normal” show, it can make the most sense to split the file into two parts.

Which Plex client type is used?
What is the software version of the Plex server?

the problem is though plex used to realise this and skip the second episode now it doesnt

I have a lot of full disc files, so if I have a 24 episode Season I name them as followed

File 1 = S01E01
File 2 = S01E07
File 3 = S01E13
File 4 = S01E19

Usually a little out of order but plex Plays them in sequence
