Multiple Artists separated by a forward slash instead of a semi colon

Yesterday, I noticed that one of my songs was missing a contributing artist. I added it in the file section. (Aside: I’m using Windows 10 and I used Windows Explorer > right mouse click > Properties > Details > Contributing Artist. On screen, I noticed that it separated the two contributing artists with a semi colon. Good. I also had 4 other songs that were already separated with semi colons for the contributing artist field. Good.) I Refreshed that album and nothing changed. I Updated the Library and nothing changed. I decided to remove the song, Update the Library, add the song back in and Update the Library again. The contributing artist field has now been changed (i.e. it included the extra singer), but it used a forward slash between them, instead of a semi colon, like the other 4 songs. Why the forward slash instead of a semicolon? I tried an extra step to test something. Perhaps now Plex uses forward slashes instead of semicolons? I decided to remove the whole CD, Update the Library, Empty Trash, remove the contributing artists from all 5 track entries and create them all again at the same time (in Windows Explorer), brought them back into Plex, Updated the Library again and lo and behold, the same track used a forward slash and the other 4 tracks continued to use a semicolon. Why? What am I missing? I checked the forums but don’t see anything about this weird condition. I checked the view on my Plex Web, iOS iPad and Apple TV and they all look the same and I have the latest version of those apps.

Is it possible that there are ID3 tags embedded in the tracks? The ID3 specification says that forward slashes should be used to separate multiple entries on several fields. I can’t swear to it, but I thought Plex handled this more gracefully in the past, parsing the tags correctly and separating the entries.

I’m not sure what you’re asking me “Is it possible that there are ID3 tags embedded in the tracks?” I thought ID3 tags were part of every MP3 file.? I tried various options but that one track kept putting a forward slash instead of a semi colon, like the other 4 tracks. I decided to put aside that track and re-rip it. As I thought, it only had 1 artist appear (which was the reason I needed to add one). I used windows media player to rip the track and afterwards, I used it to add the missing person. This time, when I put it into the Plex directory and updated the library, it went in as a semi colon. Go figure. Maybe something was weird for that track, since the other 4 were semicolons.
