Multiple Episodes not showing

Hello, I have only just joined Plex and created my library but I have found a problem. I have a program called Waking the Dead. The first season has 10 episodes, but the library is only showing 4 but each of those 4 has a little number in the top left corner which I assume is the other episodes. How do I access them or make them show as individual episodes?

Regards Lee

The little blue(ish) square with a number indicates there’s multiple versions of that same movie or episode. Your client should provide an option „play version“ (could be hidden in the player‘s „…“ menu).

Keep in mind… Plex will only show the quality of each version, not the actual file name. That makes it hard to pick.

To actually fix the mismatch, I recommend to go to the root cause of the prob which usually is poor file naming (no offense).
Structure/naming should be as follows:

TV Shows ← your library is watching this folder
… / TV Show Name (Year) ← year is optional but can help with similarly named shows
… … / Season 01 ← 2-digit season number
… … … / TV Show Name (year) - s01e01 - optional episode name.ext
… … … / TV Show Name (year) - s01e02.ext ← without the optional episode title
… … … / TV Show Name (year) - s01e03.ext
… … … / …
… … … / TV Show Name (year) - s01e10.ext

No offence taken however this series each episode is a part one, part two. It is showing the first 2 episodes in it’s part 1 & 2 just not the rest of the episodes and I have named all of them according to that protocol
eg:
TV FOLDER
Waking the Dead Season 1
WAKING THE DEAD S01E01 Burn Out Part 1
WAKING THE DEAD S01E01 Burn Out Part 2

Also how do I remove a show from Plex without deleting it from my hard drive? Because I tried to delete the series thinking it was only being deleted from Plex and found to my horror all the files had been deleted from the hard drive…good thing I could recover them from the recycle bin.

Regards Lee

According to The TVDB you have naming issues with the show.

WAKING THE DEAD - S01E03 - Burn Out
WAKING THE DEAD - S01E04 - Burn Out

You can move the folders outside of the folder you have setup for the Library. For example on my system if I had this show I would move the folder in F:\TV Shows\Waking The Dead to F:\Waking The Dead. Then rescan the library so it detects the show has been removed from the library.

If you have the Allow media deletion option set in the Settings / Server / Library you will get a prompt asking if you are sure you want to delete from the filesystem.

Thank you,
When the first two episodes loaded it came up Pilot (1) Pilot (2) Burn Out (1) Burn Out (2) so I don’t know why the rest were not there as the files were all named the same way as those first ones.

I did find the media deletion and turned it to off. Also when that screen came up I didn’t realise it was deleting from my computer.

I am removing the files from the library the way you suggest.

FYI I renamed the first folder as you put above and all 9 episodes are showing, I don’t know what a difference the - between makes but that’s all that was missing on those first few files. Now for the task of renaming all the files. Thank you again.

you can check out FileBot (there’s lots of references here in the forum). FileBot can help automatically renaming your files.
if you’re on macOS there’s a function to mass-re-name your files that let’s you easily achieve the naming (without the optional episode title).

Filebot is reasonably decent but just be aware they discriminate by OS.
Free for some OS and stupidly expensive on others (windows.) They also went to great lengths to remove almost every free download link from the internet on general.
I do believe though that there is still a free (
although old) version available for Windows.
Possibly on filehippo I’m not really sure.

Thanks, I tried to search for a free version of Filebot, but like you said they have been removed.

Yeah apparently you can do a yearly subscription now. That seems far more reasonable at $6 a year.
Kind of suggests they have zero idea of their pricing strategy.
