TV show episodes have disappeared

Server Version#:4.51.3
Player Version#:N/A
I hope this isn’t something simple…
Or… Maybe I do?
I have 130 episodes of a particular show on my NAS. I have named them all properly using Filebot. When I initially established my Plex Media Server, they were all present and accounted for, numerically, although I never actually played them.
Today, while updating my media library, I noticed that the server believes there’s only 1 episode of the entire series available. They’re all still on the NAS, they’re all still named as they were before. There’s nothing to distinguish the single episode that’s appearing (Season 1, Episode 59 of 65) from the 129 that are not. What has happened, how can I fix this?
I’ve tried “Update Libraries” several times, to no avail.
I appreciate any insight folks can offer me!

Update: I have found the episodes, so now I need different help. The show in question was made in 1982. It was remade under the same name in 2002. While the two shows initially aligned perfectly when I established the Plex Media Server, now all the episodes except that one are grouping themselves in with the 2002 series. How do I restore the original division?

Short term:

  1. split the “merged” show from your library (show level!)
  2. identify which is which and fix match the incorrectly assigned one

Long(er) term:
review your file naming to ensure the file/folder naming matches the official naming for that show – e.g. “Doctor Who” (first aired in 1963) vs. “Doctor Who (2005)” (first aired in 2005)

Thank you so much for helping tom80H!
I’m sorry if I’m dense… is Split a keyword, a menu command or an instruction, or something else? I’m not really clear what you mean by “split” and “show level”?
I’d thought this would be a menu command AT the show level, butI’ve looked at the three dot fly-out menus at the TV Shows, season view, and individual episode level for every point I can find, and cannot find a split command.

And longer term, I’m confident my shows ARE properly named:
He-Man and the Masters of the Universe - 2x43 - Teela’s Triumph
He-Man and the Masters of the Universe (2002) - 1x21 - Snake Pit

Split is an action in the context menu of shows that are organized in different top-level folders (same for movies). You should find it when you open your tv-show library in Plex, hover over the show’s poster and click the button.

As for avoiding this and getting it right in the future… your best shot is to stick with the naming schema proposed by Plex. You should e.g. not use 2x43 to identify the season/episode – Plex prefers s02e43 instead.

Example:

TV Shows <- the folder linked to your tv-show library
He-Man and the Masters of the Universe
    Season 02
      He-Man and the Masters of the Universe - s02e43 - Teela's Triumph.ext

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe (2002)
    Season 01
      He-Man and the Masters of the Universe (2002) - s01e21 - Snake Pit.ext

Where .ext is your respective file extension.

Simply using Filebot is not enough. You must tell Filebot that you are using Plex and not Kodi.

Well I feel foolish. I’ve corrected my file names and solved the issues. Thank you both for your help!
