Multiple Files for Movies

Hi Everyone
So i am now sorting out all my old films and geting ready to put onto my pplex server.
The problem is that some of the older films came in mulitple parts.
When i import they show twice.
SO if anyone can tel me the following that would be great.

  1. Can i have it only show once even though 2 or more oparts
  2. Does anyone know of a free application that will merge them quickly with no lose etc

Alternately, you can use MKVToolNix to combine multi-part movies into one large MKV file. The output is a MKV file, but you can use MP4s or MKVs as input files.

Here’s the instruction handbook for joining two files with MKVToolNix:

It’s just a Remux (no quality loss) and appending one file’s beginning to the end of the other and it does work quickly. The point at which they meet is a simple joining and is subject to the (very) limited editing abilities therein. It may appear seamless - it may not.

It’s easy enough to try it and take a look. I can usually get something I can live with in a couple of tries. It DOES however require that both files be very similar - like twins almost - one could give the other one his kidney… Yea, they do have to be alike - genetically.
