New library builder here! Each day seems to bring a new challenge and so far I’ve been able to find solutions but this issue has me unsure if I did it right. Any help would be appreciated. Specifically, I am adding X-Men First Class 4K to my library and the rip shows the film contents in five parts. I looked up how to deal with this and found out about naming parts i.e. Xmen First Class (2011) pt 1/5… and so on (which did not work, created 5 separate films) so I messed around with the names and found that creating the name as Xmen Frist Class (2011) part 1… and so on, compiled all five part in one Plex library title. In the “get info” it now shows all parts together and the total run time of the film correctly. (Although, I am not sure if I have 2 of the files listed in their parts correctly (order), but that’s for another day).
Here is my issue/question: when I start the film it displays the run time but only for the first part, when it moves to the second part, there is a long delay (and blank screen for about 30sec and so on for each transition. Is there a way to smooth this out? Has anyone specifically dealt with this title and got it to work smoothly. I also created a subfolder for this tile with all the contents, in hopes that Plex would reassemble things in the right order but that just created the 5 title mess all over again.
The better way to accomplish this is to use MKVToolNix to append each file together…
Get MKVToolNix
Open the first file in the order
Right click the video track and click “Append”
Choose the next file
Right click the second video track, and click append
choose the next one
And so on and so on… until you’ve got all 5 in there
Click Start Mux at the bottom.
This will connect them all in a single container, and then it will operate as you wish it to.
Edit: My instructions are the same as the link provided above… philip and I were typing/replying at the same time it would seem, lol
