So I have a plex server running off my personal server, and my friend and I just built a new server to handle plex. I share my library with my friends and since its like almost 10 people now I would really like to be able to use both of the servers at the same time putting on group of friends using comp 1 resources, and the second group using the other servers resources. The issue I am running into is that I can’t forward the external ip port to the 32400 port on both computers. I can only forward it to one ip or the other. Does anyone have a workaround on this? Any help would be really appreciated.
You will have to manually set the external port on one of your servers to something different (eg. 32401) and manually forward that port to that server. You may have to “Show Advanced” to manually set the port number.
Its the internal port that is the problem because they are both 32400 so i can’t forward like 32400 (externalip) to 32400(internalip) and 32401(external) to 32400(internal) And i can’t seem to be able to change the internal ip at all.
Can you not specify the IP address that it forwards the port to?
I can change the ip forsure but the problem is the Port. Both plex servers have to listen on 32400 so regardless of the external port i am using they both have to forward to 32400 which my modem doesn’t like. And iI can’t seem to find an option to change that 32400 to another port.
Can you send a screenshot of your router’s port forwarding settings?
Yea I can send it here in about an hour. I will be off work then. Thanks a ton for your help!
Each server is running on a different machine.
Which means each server has a different private IP adddress.
So:
Server 1: external port number 32410
is forwarded by the router to IP 192.168.1.10:32400
Server 2: external port number 32400
is forwarded by the router to IP 192.168.1.20:32400
Some router models don’t support to define a different external port number than the internal port number, but those are in the minority.

(scroll down to ’ Manual Port Forwards for Multiple Servers’)
My modem doesn’t allow me to forward two the same port on two different ips. I will triple check here in about 20 when I am home.
That doesn’t sound right.
(you haven’t mixed up the input fields for external and internal port numbers, right?)
Yea, I am an idiot. Thank you guys! I had the external internal backwards now it works proper. Thank you!
Don’t worry! You’re not the first one. The UI on some routers is far from easy to grasp.
Thanks you guys are the best! Yea I just recently upgraded to verizon 5g home and they are all trying to be hip and top of the line so they go with a super basic UI which makes certain things super easy but more advanced things are really well hidden or not explained very well. Oh well crappy hidden features is a small price to pay for GB internet. Cheers
