Multipleksa plex server and home users

I remember… we had shared the article on how to leave a Plex Home some days ago.
This way you’ll no longer be a member of their Plex Home but you’re still friends.

Are they showing as friends when YOU open https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/settings/users-sharing ?
Have you checked the More section in the main menu’s sidebar if their 2 libraries are showing up there?

They are not showing as friends when I open my Plex media server (which is what I got when I clicked on the link you sent me).

I did check the More section in the sidebar, and they didn’t show up there either.

Oops, unable to accept the invitation…

The invitation was sent to a different email address.

I get the following error message when I click on their Friend invitation link:

“Please sign in to the correct Plex account or create a new Plex account under the email address to which the invitation was sent.”

Also, can you answer my question on the Roku? Do the accounts shared with me automatically show up there (at least normally) if one clicks on an emailed Friend invite received on a separate device (e.g. an iPhone or iPad or separate computer)?

Let me re-phrase that last question more accurately:

Do the LIBRARIES shared with me automatically show up there (at least normally) if one clicks on an emailed Friend invite received on a separate device (e.g. an iPhone or iPad or separate computer)?

Well… there you go.
It appears they have invited you using a different e-mail address than the one linked to your Plex account. That’s why you cannot accept the invitation (while being signed in with your actual account). Make sure they invite the correct e-mail address!!

Simply having that e-mail will do you no good.

You won’t see any of their libraries, while they’re not sharing them with your account. Once this is setup, the shares will appear automatically on all your apps. At worst they’ll show up under the More section.

Eureka! It finally worked. Perfectly. Thanks so much for staying with us.

BUT, I have three TVs with Plex and it still isn’t showing me my relative’s shared libraries on the Plex on the other two TVs (both of which are newer LG TVs than the one we finally got everything working on).

How do I get the relative’s shared libraries to show up on the other two TVs? (The relative’s account name does show up, but they don’t show any of his shared libraries.)

PS: My relative’s libraries DO show up not only on my Roku on my main TV, but also on Plex on my iPhone and on my iPad. Now I just need to get it working on these other two TVs.

Are those two TVs signed in using the same Plex account?

Well, interesting development. Both of those TVs have a Plex client both via TiVo and via the LG televisions’ own Plex app. On both televisions, the Tivo Plex app is able to successfully show the content from both servers. And on both of those two televisions the LG app lists both servers, but only shows the content from my own server.

So the problem seems to be exclusively with the Plex app coming directly from LG. The strange thing is that my oldest LG television is the one we’ve been working on up until now and the Plex app works fine on that one. The problem is with the Plex app on the newer LG televisions. They both show my relative’s server, but they both say that it is unavailable. And I’ve exited my own account and re-entered it but that doesn’t change anything.

To be more specific, I signed out of the Plex LG app, rather than merely having exited them. Then I signed in again on both televisions using the LG Plex app. And, like I said, and those two newer LG Plex apps, it will not show me the contact of my relatives server. It says it is unavailable.

The two newer LG Plex apps are clearly different versions of the app than the older version which actually works well.

Yes, those two TVs are signed in using the same Plex account.

Can you try to sign those two Smart TV Plex apps out, restart the TV and sign back in to see if this unlocks your situation.

Okay. I did that on both televisions. What I describe below are the exact steps I took on both TVs and they both had exactly the same results:

I went into the LG Plex app and then, after I signed out of my server and turned the TV off, I then turned the TV back on, went back to the LG Plex App and tried to sign in. It gave me the 4 character code to input from any browser. I then went on the Chrome browser on my iPad and input the 4 character code. Then I went to the TV and it had created a long nonsense server name which, interestingly ended in @privaterelay.appleid.com That happened on BOTH televisions. That server did not see EITHER my own server or my relative’s. It only had the standard default Plex media material.

Because I saw the word “apple” as part of this new server name, I said to myself, perhaps that’s because I input the code from the browser on my iPad. Again, it happened the same way on BOTH televisions and they both responded with a server name ending in @privaterela.appleid.com. SO, I tried it again, but this time after exiting the nonsense server, I again tried to log in but this time, I input the 4 character code from Chrome on my Dell laptop, not on an Apple product. Different result. This time I got back to my original starting point where it showed me all of my server and all my own content and it showed me the NAME of my relative’s server, but couldn’t show me any of its content as it said that server was unavailable. But I know that server is available because I can see it on my Roku Plex app and my Tivo Plex apps.

So, to make a long story short, it seems like there is a bug in the most current version of the LG Plex app which doesn’t let you see the contents of more than one server, or at least doesn’t let you see the contents of a shared server (not sure which).

Do you agree? And, if so, can you forward this info to your programmers?

Are there any client settings about the connection network requirements that could be in conflict with your friend sharing their server?
I’m thinking of the option to require secure connections.

You’ve gone way beyond my understanding at this point.

But since I can see his content on my Tivo and Roku Plex apps, doesn’t that mean his settings must all be properly set up?

Their server could be configured to disable secure connections while your app could be configured to require a secure connection. This could prevent the Plex app on your LG from connecting to their server while your other clients could still succeed.

I checked and my LG Plex app was set to allow insecure connections. I then changed it to require secure connections but still no success.

Now a bigger problem. After I exited my server on the LG Plex client, when I signed back in, it showed the name of both my server and my relative’s server, but this time would not even show me the content of even my OWN server! Nor did it show me the content of my relative’s.

Worse yet, because it would not allow me access to my own server, I could not change the settings back to what they were before I changed them to require a secure connection.

Now what?

Strike that last reply. I was trying to delete it and actually sent it.

What I was trying to say is that the Apple-related problem I mentioned before about getting a server name with nonsense letters followed by @privaterelay.appleid.com, that appears to happen only when I input the four-character code from my iPad mini. It did not happen just now when I input the four-character code from my Apple iPhone.

That sounds like you might accidentally have created a 2nd Plex account, using “sign-in w/ Apple”.
You can connect your regular account to use the Apple authentication – however if you’re using the wrong mode, you can actually sign-up that Apple ID as a separate account. That new account will obviously have no access to any of your own media or media shared with you.

I have no need or desire for a second Apple account so I’ll pass on that. My concern remains getting the LG Plex app to work with both of the existing Plex servers. Is there a way to change my settings back now since I can’t get it to even access my server?
