Music Albums Sorted Incorrectly

In my music album library which I solely use for audiobooks I have two specific audiobooks that are not sorted correctly by title name. When I sort by title name they end up between two odd named titles. The two albums in question are:

• Jack Ryan 01 - Without Remorse [Tom Clancy.1993]
• Jack Ryan 02 - Patriot Games [Tom Clancy.1988]

Now, this is the sort view by folder name. See, it is correct in order.

When sorting by title name those two titles in question are in between an “A” title and a “B” title. Huh?

Now, before you say anything about my MP3 tags and file naming I have triple checked the folder and MP3 tags on all the MP3 files. They are completely correct and consistent with the other 743 titles in my library. I’ve tried deleting these, emptying trash, cleaning bundles, and optimizing the library before adding these titles and no change.

If you edit those two items individually in Plex, is there anything in the Sort Title field?

BOOM! Thank you sir…I completely overlooked it.

For some reason the sort title is labeled as the library “audiobooks” instead of the actual title. Edited in Plex to correct title and all is well.

Now…I have to figure out why it did this. Maybe I overlooked something else in the metadata.

Ok, the real solution was removing the tag in the album title field. I clean up all the tags in MP3tag. By default there is no field for album sort. In going through the MP3tag software I added that field just on a hunch. Turns out someone before me tagged that field with “Audiobook” which is why it sorted the way it did in Plex and had “Audiobook” in the Sort Album field in Plex.
