Music Albums Splitting into Multiple

Server Version#: 4.8.4

Plex is splitting a lot of my albums into 2 with the same album name. Some of the songs are “Untitled”. My library is a mess, making Plex unusable as a music server.

Example: for my Norah Jones “Day Breaks” album I show 2 albums named “Day Breaks” where a few of the songs are in one of the copies and the rest of the songs are in the other.

All of my music is FLAC format and properly tagged using JRiver Media Center. File structure is Album Artist/Album/Track#. Name

I have also cross checked all my tags using MP3Tag.

Can you make a screen shot with mp3tag, similar to this one?
It shows all the important bits and pieces at once.

This is actually looking quite good.
Did you activate ‘Prefer local Metadata’ in the properties of your music library or not?
I guess this is this album on MB https://musicbrainz.org/release/9a897b35-f123-47bb-9b1f-6819674d222c

Can you inspect the contents of the properties guid="..", parentGuid=".." and grandparentGuid=".." in the Plex XML info of the first track of that album?

Please verify that you are using proper ‘Vorbis’ tags in your flac files and not ID3 tags.

I was unaware of “Prefer Local Metadata”. I enabled it and refreshed metadata and everything is starting to look good. Thank you very much!

Careful: Plex will follow your tags almost blindly. You need to make sure that all albums are tagged correctly, or it will end in tears
Various Artists, Soundtracks and Best Of compilations in particular.
