Music browsing and playback very buggy and laggy on Nvidia Shield

I have been organishing my music into a more usable form since I started using Plexamp and now when in front of the TV sometimes I feel like listening to some tunes I am finding that the Plex on Android TV (Nvidia Shield 2019) seems to be really buggy when playing music and then browsing the library.

So at first browsing the library is fine until you start playing a song, then it is like the device can’t cope with playback and browsing the library. The fun really starts when you try and play a different song, the following things can happen:

  • The device can just lock up for a moment or two

  • You can be bounced back to the Plex home screen

  • If you continue to dare browse or change song again you can be bounced to the Android TV home screen.

When I use PlexAmp everything is super fine and responsive and I don’t see any of these issues, the web client also doesn’t have these issues so I assume the Android TV client is the root cause. Having searched the forum I couldn’t see anyone else complaining which leads me to believe that it is either a me issue or others are not using it for music playback.

So does no one else have this issue, am I the only one where music playback and browsing struggle?
