I have thousands of music tracks with the wrong cover art and metadata or no cover art at all. All this time, Plex has assigned wrong cover art to the titles that have no cover art which is understandable. However, I recently started to add embedded cover art to all my MP3 files. However, after having Plex rescan the library, the cover art is not updating to the embedded cover art on the tracks. How can I force Plex to recognize the embedded cover art?
- there can be only one cover per album in Plex. Ensure that all tracks of an album have the same embedded art.
- cover art is metadata. Refresh Metadata of the album or the artist. Make sure to enable “Use local metatags” if you want plex to prefer the embedded art. There is also a dedicated prefernce for cover art at the bottom of the Advanced tab. Verify it’s set to the desired option. If you have already picked a cover art manually for the album, you might have to select the newly added ones after Refreshing Metadata as well.
(Or you’ll have to reset the “locked” flag on the thumbnails of that library.)
