Plex Media Server.log
But I can listen to that album on TIDAL in Plex. In fact, I haven’t had any issues listening to anything sourced from TIDAL.
I don’t actually have anything else from that artist in my library.
EDIT: I don’t know if that actually has anything to do with my TIDAL subscription… Now I see other references to subscription when referring to other library items. I just tried to add an Alice in Chains album from TIDAL to my library. I already have Alice in Chains in my library. It adds it, but it pulls no metadata and also does not update any of the song names like it would normally do.
I see this in the logs:

It’s doing something?
Sorry, this gets a little confusing with the back-and-forth here.
When I created a test music library, I added an AC/DC album. It had metadata for the artist and album, but I do already have that album in my main music library. When I added local files for an artist and album that is not in my other music library, I had the issues with only the artist bio and album review being updated. The rest of the metadata including artist and album posters were missing.
Adding an album from TIDAL to my main or test music library results in absolutely no metadata.
I’m not just having an issue with metadata when adding items from TIDAL. I do not believe it is a subscription issue. I’ve had my subscription for the better part of 6 months now (if not longer) and it’s been enabled and working in Plex for just as long.
When adding an album from TIDAL to your local library, it is treated exactly like adding local files as far as downloading metadata. The artist and album are still matched against MusicBrainz.
running into same issue. Newly added artists to my (local) library aren’t pulling all metadata. seems to be an issue for any artist added in the past 8 days or so.

@trumpy81 Did you try to add a new artist which has never been in your library before, or just new albums?
Checking the logs, nothing seems to stand out, but I am far from an expert in reading those. Maybe indeed it has something to do with some servers at Plex, since nothing seems faulty in the local logs.
No, you actually just confirmed it. You didn’t pull styles, moods or posters.
I probably muddied the waters a bit, but here is what @thi3rrym reported was missing:
I am seeing the same for local files but am getting nothing from TIDAL sourced albums added (which may or may not be related). Both of these things worked 2 weeks ago.
This is exactly what I am experiencing in an attempt to fix my recent matching issue. Albeit, I’m less fussy about Album meta and more concerned about Artist meta.
Any artist in the existing library simply will not match (and update content) despite it finding a match.
If I remove all traces of an artist and then add it back via a new library or the existing one, a poster and background image are added but not present in the fields to edit/choose a different one. Only information in the General tab are populated (Artist, Sort Artist, Bio).
Reintroducing the media to the library is a workaround but not one that’s really complete. ALL tags (such as genre, similar artists, etc) would also update/match previously.
Edit: I should also mention (if it’s relevant) that I do not have a Plex Pass or Tidal subscription. I’m running a very vanilla setup.
Same issue here as other posters have already mentioned. In addition, it doesn’t appear to be matching (or rather updating) the album year correctly. I added a few new albums today from a brand new artist to the library. The album years are wrong:
If I select “fix match”, the correct album shows up with the right year:
Selecting the album does nothing, the wrong year persists. I have “prefer local metadata” unchecked, which should use whatever it finds on musicbrainz, if I understand the process correctly. I also verified directly on musicbrainz site that the album year is correct there.

Im in Spain/Pontevedra/36151 and having the same problem.
Lot of new content added to the music library can’t get bio, posters and tags.
Hi, I’m having the same problem of missing bio and poster for some artists while others work fine.
Eg. Plex is having issue with Aerosmith and no problem getting bio of Alanis Morrissette.
This is a new server in docker that I’m building, it has no connectivity problems in fetching other media types such as TV shows and Movies. It is just that can’t seem to get Music library artist bios. All files are local.
Thanks for making such a great application, a long time PlexPass supporter.
What about when you edit the Artist (not individual albums)? Do you have any tags filled except the Bio and a Poster, which does not appear in the Poster selection tab?
I don’t see anything filled in for some problem artists. No Bios, no poster, nothing. While others are perfectly fine which is little bonkers!
Related to your post, I was missing artists info, popular tracks and some could not even get a match using plex music, switched to last.fm and everything works fine for me, I wish that while using plex music as default/upgrade matching we could use last.fm for artists who are missing info or missing entirely cause last.fm option was not even an option while using plex music
Same as others I think, I get artist and bio, but nothing on the tags screen, and no posters to choose from (though it does select a default).
I have the exact same problem. I am in the process of moving all of my music to Plex. Any music added before this week has all of the tags, moods, genres, poster, backgrounds added. Any music I have added in the past few days only includes the artist bio, there are no tags, or any posters to choose from (though it selects a default).
I am running the latest version of Plex Server (with plex pass).
Do we know if any Plex dev is looking into this issue?
