I’ve been adding alot of music lately and for some strange reason a Various Artists music has vanished from plex.. I can acces some music from playlists but there is no actual track listing when visiting that particular album… Strange! Example below:
Does this issue persist if you access your library from another app and after rebooting the server?

Nothing has changed… Files are there… Missing from plex except playlists…

Can you click the title in your playlist?
This should display the album to which that song belongs… does that also display an empty list?
Are the albums showing ok if you’re accessing your server using a different app (or using a different browser)?
If so… do you have any content/ad blockers or security add-ons in your browser that could block that particular information?
If you see the image I attached that’s exactly what I’m showing. The track playing is from a playlist BUT clicking on the album gets an empty listing.
Also checked any blockers… Not an issue.
Some weird caca going on.
I would make a backup copy of the album that’s being affected, delete it from Plex, clean up the database, clean the bundles, reboot, then re-add that single album back into the directory where it was originally located, causing the server to redo the whole import/metadata process all over again. Essentially the Plex Dance.
Are there any other albums under Various Artists that have this same behavior?
Is Various Artists used for Album Artist field in the file metadata?
Plex doesn’t do well with an empty Album Artist field for VA/compilation albums and Various Artists needs to be added to the Album Artist field for optimal results.
That’s nothing you’ll fix with a Plex Dance.
@ondarocks : I’ve seen your screenshot. Have you disabled all browser add-ons? How about accessing your server from a different app?
Eveything has been diabled AND I triend another app… I used my phone app.
Still the same. I belive this iIS a various artist issue though. The missing albums are all in the same folder on the server. Thay are all various artist compilations.
The plex dance didn’t work btw… YES it’s a various artists issue BUT the metadata IS correct for ALL files! I pianstakingly made sure of that!
I took a huge step and moved the entire various artists folder from the Christmas music category via filezilla from the server in the Netherlands. I did the Plex Dance including a reboot. I re-uploaded the folder and scanned again. It all re-populated!
