Music folders are display duplicated, from where is it coming different?

Hi,
just struggle out, that lot of music folders (every artist has a own folder) are shown in Plex twice.
The ID-Tags are set correctly, done over last years.

Two examples:
Shania twain, only one album in the folder, but in the album-view two albums are shown.
Different: One has year 2001, the other 2002 (in ID-Tag all have 2002!) !

Tracy Chapman, one folder with one album on the disk: “First”.
But Plex is showing two albums, one “First”, one “Tracy Chapman”.
In all ID-Tags the album is named with “First” !

From where is it coming? Did Plex scan the internet is “thinks” to know it better and add a duplicate entry with “correct” informations ?

Maybe it’s a setting, but what setting where? My ID-Tags are fine (including covers), so Plex should only use them.
I switch to “Use local Metafiles”, maybe the issue is related to this?

Thx,
Martin

Move your mouse pointer over the playtime of the first track.
It will change to a vertical ellipsis ⋮
click on it and select “Get info”

Take a careful look at the folder location and the file name.
Compare it with the data of the duplicate album.

Do also this: Edit your musc library,
go to the ‘Add Folders’ tab
and see if there are more than one folder paths in there.
Make sure that every path is pointinf ot a folder which is:

  • existing
  • accessible to Plex
  • not completely empty

Hello Otto,
thx for your replay, has not seen your reply till now …sorry!

Actuall I had deleted the old Plex Mediathek and build new, now it seems bether /correct. Unclear what happens before.
But the albums should only exists one time, now copy or so … strange …
