I’ve been using Plex for 2 month or so, and I have a Plex Server v1 .3.3.3148 running on Raspbian Jessie, and I’m trying to add Music Videos to my library. I saw in this link: https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/205568377-Adding-Local-Artist-and-Music-Videos that you could add local videos through the Inline way.
Everything has worked so far with Music Videos using the tag “-video”, but I can’t seem to find the way to add other type of videos, like live performances, interviews, or lyric videos.
My library is ordered in this way:
/music/artist/album/file.ext
Example:
/Music/Chelsea Wolfe/(2013) Pain Is Beauty/01 - Feral Love.mp3
/Music/Chelsea Wolfe/(2013) Pain Is Beauty/01 - Feral Love - Feral Love-Video.mp4
/Music/Chelsea Wolfe/(2013) Pain Is Beauty/Feral Love-Lyrics.mp4
The Video file is showing ok in my library, adding a video icon to the song on the album screen, but I can’t seem to find the lyric video. I’ve tried renaming the file in different ways, adding the name of the artist, changing the video type, but nothing seems to work. Everytime I’ve changed the name of the file, I rescan the entire music library, update the artist and album metadata, but it still doesn’t show.
Additionally, I tried setting a Global Folder, but didn’t seem to work either. The videos just didn’t show anymore.
I’ve searched the forums for this problem, but haven’t found anything relating to music extras and this specific problem.
I have all my music video stuff set up with the global method and they are all appearing under the relevant artists. I never tried the inline method. I just checked and they are still showing. Running PMS 1.3.3. Obviously, the global method requires that you configure the local media assets agent, but I presume you already did that.
I’ve configured the local media assests agent pointing to my videos folder:
/home/user/videos/
Inside this folder I have artist folders
/home/user/videos/Chelsea Wolfe
And the videos inside are ordered like this:
/home/user/videos/Chelsea Wolfe/Chelsea Wolfe - Feral Love-lyrics.mp4
I rescanned the library, but still nothing happens. I tried moving the videos to the root of the global folder (/user/home/videos/Chelsea Wolfe - Feral Love-lyrics.mp4) and rescanned the library again, but nothing appears under the artist page.
Maybe this will help. When I add or change something in my global music videos folder, I have to do a refresh of the artist page in order for music videos to update. Refreshing the entire library doesn’t do anything for me.
Finally, I tried with different artists, and some worked ok while others didn’t. The ones that didn’t show the videos and extras, I had to delete them from the library and add them again. That’s the solution that has worked for me so far.

Yes, that’s the “Plex Dance,” or a version of it. This is a problem that has been around for some time, where the Refresh function doesn’t do what it is supposed to do. In fact, it’s been around so long that the workaround has gained a name.
