New iPad app => no more music

Since the update from yesterday, the Plex iPad app is only showing video (and TV). We’re ar my music files? The library is gone in the app
Webbrowser is fine, also the iPhone app (did not update that)

Hmmm, indeed, i did not read that. So also not:

Music and Photos: We have built dedicated music and photo applications that are companions to the Plex app. Plexamp and Plex Photos are where access to music and photo libraries will live moving forward. As such, music and photos access will no longer be available within the regular Plex application when it gets updated to the new experience. Both companion apps are still in active development and can expect updates soon.

Plexamp i am using for listening to music. However, searching is/was sometimes better in Plex (web). Also, i was using Plex as a quick ‘all in one place’ solution. Merging albums and alter metatags you have to use Plex. Plexamp cannot do this

But you must have been using Plex Web for that, haven’t you?
The classic Plex iOS app had no means to edit metadata or merge albums. Plex have mentioned they’re working on a dedicated library/server management app supporting mobile platforms.

The Plex ecosystem has been split into three apps. You’ll need to download PlexAmp from the Apple AppStore, login using your Plex credentials and then you’ll be able to regain access to your music. Just to be clear, your music files themselves are safe on whatever PC or server hardware you chose to keep it on. Your music is safe, it’s just that accessing it from Plex the main Plex app is no longer available. Think of it as Apple deciding to break apart iTunes into separate apps (Apple Music app, Podcasts app, AppleTV app). That’s exactly what Plex did.

Plex App - For LiveTV and DVR, Movies, and TV show Library’s

PlexAmp - For everything audio such as Music Libraries and Audiobook Libraries.

Plex Photos - Photo’s

I tried to download Plex Photos from the App Store, but it’s so old (and never updated) that it doesn’t even shows the albums, just a random endless list of photos all together. :frowning:

I tried the plex “amp” app a year or so back. It dropped its “trash” files all over my directory structure (instead of keeping them local to the app folder structure). I uninstalled it and cleaned up all the trash it left behind.

Now that this is mandatory, That leaves me two options.

  1. Confirm that you got rid of the mess you used to leave behind. “Pack out what you pack in.” “Leave not even footsteps behind.”

  2. Find a new music app for local sources.

I sure don’t want to be driven away from Plex as a hub for my media of all sources.

I’m using PlexAmp for years now (ipad, iPhone & Windows) and having no trouble with it nor it is dumping trash. Streaming to Sonos has sometimes issues, but for the rest it is perfect

You are right. I panniked somewhat
Using Plex in the browser stays the same as it was (for now)
