Since the 2025.x.x series of updates have been released, I was never able to see my music library in the app. I spent countless hours researching and trying to fix this. I never saw any solution from anyone, anywhere that actually had a fix that worked, until today. This concerns the Android app only. The web and Windows app had no problem. Someone had suggested adding a dummy non music library, which I did. That library showed up in the app but not my music library. Now I am thinking there is something amiss with my music library. Hours later, I stumbled on a post that suggested that the Android Plex app no longer supported music libraries and that the PlexAmp app was now the only way to access music libraries on the Android platform. WHAAAAT? It seems to be true, although I have a hard time believing that Plex would intentionally disable music in the app. If this is really the case a great big red notice should have appeared in the Android Plex app library tab. I find it hard to believe that thousands of people haven't complained about this change and the lack of a huge announcement. If this is not correct and there is some other answer, I would like to hear the real answer.

Yes I’m confused as well. I was also fine with them separating this and now I can’t help but think they’ve set themselves up for a ton of extra work and frankly lost one of the major reasons for this whole overhaul. Not to mention all the time lost by reverting this.

The codebase never changed on Roku so I suppose that’s why they could get it back so easily there, but now they will have to have it everywhere again, going down the exact same road as before. Kinda baffling if you ask me.

There is a reason they didn’t allow comments on that ‘announcement’ which they haven’t bothered making anywhere else it might matter to other platforms.

“Today, the preview update is ultra-special, as it re-introduces two amazing Personal Media features.”

So ultra-special to have basic features returned! So amazing! Wow!

After causing so many users so much grief and frustration, responding with dismissive arrogance and demanding people use secondary apps that didn’t exist on their platform, they finally ate some humble pie and came to their senses.

And yes, they have only served to create more work for themselves in the end because they didn’t bother to ask the majority of their users how they used Plex, much less bothered to communicate these changes effectively outside their own blog that I rarely visit.

It’s a shame they wasted so many resources on this but they made their own bed. Their silence via the blog and main website suggests some inner turmoil at work. Will be curious to see how this unfolds.
