So I’ve spent quite a bit of time reading posts about how genres for the music library are not showing up at all, or not as expected. I think my question might be a bit different.
The majority of my music files are FLAC, but I want to assign specific genres to the Artist in the Music Library.
Under Settings -> Management -> Libraries, I’ve selected Music.
Under Edit -> Advanced, I have these settings active:
Include in Dashboard
Prefer Local Metadata
Include related content from shared libraries
Artist Bios
Album Reviews and Critic Ratings
Popular Tracks
Concerts
Genres: Embedded Tags
Album Art: Both Plex Music and Local Files
Scanner: Plex Music
Agent: Plex Music
Under Settings -> Settings -> Agents -> Artists, I have Local Media Assets (Artists) first on the list for both Personal Media Artists and Last.fm
Under Settings -> Settings -> Agents -> Albums, I have Local Media Assets (Albums) first on the list for both Personal Media Albums and Last.fm
Now, what I did was add music from an artist (moving the directory from one place to another) and then I did a Scan Library Files for Music. After a while it finished.
I went into the Music Library and clicked on the Artist, and there were no genres listed.
I then went back to the Music Library and edited the Artist to have three specific genres under Tags -> Genres, then saved the changes.
I then clicked the artist again, and only the first two of the three genres are showing.
I have other artists that have a half dozen (or more) genres, but only the first two show as well.
So my question is, is there a setting that I need to change in order to get the remaining genres assigned to an artist to show up when I click an artist, or is this a limitation of Plex?
