All my comps are apparently albums by ‘Milt jackson’ and PMS won’t let me change it.
Has anyone any suggestions? It’s annoying me a lot
Take a look at All of my "Various Artists" albums changed Artist name
as well as Plex incorrectly interpreting Album Artist - #17 by OttoKerner
Thanks. I will try all that.
Most of the albums were imported after coming through my iTunes library (that I no longer use). They’re in a folder named Compilations. Is that a problem - should they be in a Various Artists folder?
While I’ve got you here, do you know why all the thumbnails for my photo library have disappeared, and his I can get them again?!
For consistency’s sake, I’d say yes. The folder name should reflect the name of the “album artist”. Very important are the embedded “album artist” meta tags. Verify that all your files have them.
Sorry, I have no idea. I don’t even know what kind of server you use.
Thanks. The album artist tags in metadata should be the artist of each track on the compilation, and the artist of each compilation should be various artists - right?
Re: photos - I’m using Plex for my photo library and up until recently had thumbnails but now only see the file name of each photo until I click on it
The other way around.
SO frustrating.
Did all this. All the various artists albums (compilations) latched onto a different seemingly random artist name (backstreet productions). I found the one track by backstreet productions (in an entirely different folder) and deleted it. Did all the removing, trashing, clean bundles, then reimported - same. Hundreds of albums by backstreet productions.
So I fix matched them to various artists and - ta da!!! - they went to various artists.
Now I’ve opened Plex on my phone and they’re all under backstreet f***ing productions again.
Really??!?
can I lock the compilation to Various Artist once I’ve fix matched them to it?
They keep changing to backroom (not backstreet… sorry) productions
I’ve spent all day editing metadata.
I have had this problem many times. Even after making sure tags were correct and organized in correct folder and file naming. For a while I would just fix it manually. This post finally led to the solution
