Music Metadata incorrect

Server Version#: 1.20.5.3600
Player Version#: 4.43.4
Hello, I’m new to Plex and just signed up for a lifetime premium subscription mostly for the ability to access my music library remotely (mobile and desktop). I’m moving from a combination of MediaMonkey and google play music. The process of importing my music database has been very messy so far. I’ve deleted and rescanned my collection a few times now and it’s very frustrating.
I have all my media tagged correctly using ID3V2.3 but for some reason PLEX is not picking the correct metadata. I used the guide here [HowTo] Configure Plex to use embedded metadata (music) to import my music.

  1. Most of the track artists are missing. For example,
I’ve confirmed that the tag has the correct artist (Citizen King) is in the file tag using MediaMonkey, MP3Tag, and even Windows Explorer.
  2. Albums split into multiple parts even though the tags are the same

  3. No option to import ratings. I have my whole music collection rated and to rerate every song again would be a huge task.
  4. Can’t import playlists (.m3u format)

These are just a few examples. There are much more that I’m still trying to resolve.
Am I doing something wrong or is PLEX not reading files correctly.

The tags are correct. I’ve checked multiple ways as you can see. The artist tag is setup correctly.

My question is why isn’t Plex reading the tags correctly.

  1. Same for this point. Tags are setup correctly. Do I have to do this Plex dance for all the files that are bad. There are at least hundreds of them.

I haven’t used iTunes in years. These must be leftovers from then. My question is why does PLEX look at comments or file structure or anything else for that matter.
I have a very specific file structure and I shouldn’t have to alter it to have Plex scan correctly. Also, I have hundreds of files that can’t be divided that way since they were never released in an album to begin with. These are mostly local recordings, spoken word, lectures and books (i.e. no album, track number,…). Is there really no way I can have Plex read files based on the embedded metadata alone.

Thanks. I guess I’ll have to look for something else.
I never thought something as simple as reading my tags correctly would be an issue. Since the only reason for switching to Plex is Music. This makes it completely useless. I’m just mad I paid for a lifetime Plex Pass subscription.

I had to create another account since whenever I try to access the forum from my account. It gives me an error message: “You can’t log in until January 1, 3000.” since there’s no support option other than the forums, I couldn’t do anything else.

I tried that already. Whenever I select support in the “Where should we direct you?” field. I lose the message box.

Tried that too
