I have a flat list of music files with all artists and contributing artists included in my tags; however, when loaded, the Plex library shows one album (various artists) and doesn’t show any of the artists. It also isn’t finding any album art or even using the local images attached to half the files. I’ve tried changing to local vs plex server to pull data but nothing has worked yet. Any thoughts? Thanks.
Keeping your files in a flat folder instead of organized into artist/album folders causes problems.
Thank you for the reply! Yes I saw that in the articles, but with over 5K in songs there is no way I can restructure them that way. Seems like an easy fix to have scanners look at the album metadata and show each song based on these items. Every music service from Media Monkey to iTunes is structured this way. Doesn’t make sense to have their system base everything off of the old folder structure set-up. The whole point of tags and meta-data is so it can be structured dynamically (like G-mail Tags vs Windows Directory folder hierarchies that are not flexible.). Kind of frustrating!
Yes, it’s kind of bizarre that Plex in some cases ignores perfectly clear tags and tries instead to figure things out by folder structure/filename, which is how we used to manage things in the 1990’s.
