Music Playback Error (s3016 and s3014) only for some songs in some players

Server Version#: 1.18.4.2171
Player Version#:

When trying to play certain songs, I get the error messages S3016 and S3014 (first 3016 then like a second later, 3014)

s3016 (first)
s3014

The weird thing is that the songs play fine on some players

  • the plex android app
    -the plex windows app

but players are giving me problems

  • Plex Web App [chrome]
  • the server app on the NAS drive where the music is [chrome browser]
  • connecting through Sonos

The music itself is stored on a Synology NAS drive. Plex is Version 1.18.3.2156.
The songs in questions are mostly standard mp3s with a couple of wmas. Logs attachedPlex Media Server Logs_2019-12-27_20-38-10.zip (7.9 MB)

I’ve got the same problem, except my file is in ALAC.
also unable to play on Sonos

@mr_defected Just in case it helps…i gave up on finding an actual root cause (i had posted another version of this question back in december, no response)

since i was just setting my library it wasn’t too much of pain to just delete the entire library and start over. which seems to have fixed the problem. not sure if this is practical for you or not

Hi @floydtheplant ,
I have done this in the past because of different reasons like artwork wasn’t being uploaded from the song metadata or album artists weren’t matched properly. Seems like I had hopes for plex and I only feel sorry for paying a lifetime subscription.
Every time I try and play something off it thorough sonos it just gives me so much headache I just give up and result to iTunes Match.

I’m having this exact same issue with some songs. They seem to be older songs as all of the albums I’ve added recently seem to work, but I have not exhaustively tested my whole library. The problem happens in both Chrome and Edge players, but not in Firefox or IOS. I can resolve the issue by removing the songs that are throwing the error (or drag the whole artist out of my Plex music library folders), scanning the library, adding them back and scanning again. This method obviously messes up my Recently Added Music section and playlists that I depend on so I’m hoping this method isn’t the only resolution. Has anyone looked into this or have any thoughts?
