Music playback issue on OnePlus 8 Pro

When I play music on the OnePlus 8 Pro running Android 10, it seems that playback breaks after some time. No sound can be heard from then on.
The seconds counter counts four seconds and then resets itself to the time it began playing.
This could be from 0:00 to 0:04, but if you skip to another time, then it could be from 1:32 to 1:36 for example.
Force stopping the app does not help, most of the time it only helps to reboot the phone (sometimes multiple times).
Playing music using the Plexamp app still works, but this is an issue for me when I want to use Android Auto, since Plexamp is not supported.
I never had this issue on my Samsung Galaxy S8+.
Another case has been submitted a while ago.

Also, somehow music played from the Plex app sounds a bit less overwhelming compared to the same music played from Spotify or YouTube.
This is mostly regarding the low frequencies in the audio, it just feels like there is something missing.
Of course I tried different high quality songs, but the result is always the same.
This also seems to be the case when I play music using the Plexamp app.

Both issues mentioned above do not seem to have effect on playing movies, that is working perfectly fine. Even when no sound can be heard from playing songs.

This makes me wonder if there is a compatibility issue within the Plex app or if there is maybe a compatibility issue with the Dolby Atmos enhancements built in the OnePlus 8 Pro.
Either way, is there a known solution or is there a way to investigate and improve this?

Server Version#: 1.19.1.2630
Player Version#: 8.0.1.17410

Same issue with one plus 8 pro. When i play music on my phone i have no sound even if i play music on Android auto.
Is there a solution ?

I’d like to bump this question, as it is not solved yet.

Same issue here. OnePlus 8Pro not able to play music through Plex in any format.

Some additional info. Same music from same source plays perfectly on the OnePlus through the Roon app.

Weird. On my Android 9 tablet everything works fine.
Both the OnePlus and the tablet are having installed the Plex 8.0.2.17816 app.

Sorry to hear you’re experiencing problems with the app. In order to allo our investigation, is there any chance you could provide app logs following this ?
Thanks in advance

Yes, I have attached the zip-file to this reply.
Thanks!

Thanks for the logs. Unfortunately, I haven’t seen anything I could identify as a simple bug. What I’ve seen though is that the system forced the app to pause in one moment. Has the device any sort of battery optimisator, that could be killing the app even when it’s configured as a media player (so it shouldn’t be killed by the system)?

What I’ve seen though is that the system forced the app to pause in one moment.

What probably happened is that I force closed the app, because sometimes that helps to reload an app completely.
The issue is also there when the app is open, so battery optimization is likely not the cause, but I’ll turn it off to find out if that makes a difference.

Unfortunately I didn’t see anything “clear” in the logs during app was in foreground and plaing.

BTW, is it happening regardless of the type of content?

It occurs when trying to play music using at least mp3 and flac files.
When I play a TV episode or a movie, the app plays them without any issue.

I recorded the screen of my phone, so you can understand what happens.

Hey Bert,

You can use the new PlexAmp app for listening to music without any issues, if you do not depend on using it with Android Auto.

There is no solution yet.
Turning off battery optimization did not solve the issue.

After the latest updates from OnePlus / Plex my problems are solved.

Yes, indeed! Android auto still is a bit wonky for me, but it’s much better than before.
The current Plex app version is 8.1.2.18135 and the current Oxygen OS version is 10.5.9.IN11BA.

The issue is solved, as far as I’m concerned.

And yet, it’s not. It’s still happening on my OnePlus 8 Pro with newer versions than those.

Exactly as OP described. Looping 4-5 seconds with no sound, no matter where you move to in an MP3. Only uninstall-restart-reinstall fixes it, for a little while. Then back to the same old grind.
