I have just discovered this and it's getting so close to amazing!
I only want it so that I can play Music Video Clips on random and it's so close!
On my Samsung TV it plays the songs on random (Which is great) but unfortunately doesn't show the actual video. The video does appear to play in the background because as someone else mentioned you can sometimes see it as you flick between screens but I can't get it to stay on the screen.
Also the ability to add all of the files in one section (IE: I want to add every one of the 200 video clips to the playlist at once - and perhaps auto update based on that 'section') would also be super valuable.

i have a work around to get it to play videos on samsung tv
Just downloaded your plugin and the playlist manager... Great job. Worked right from the start. I'm sure after using them for a bit, I will have my own wishlist for functionality, but at this point it's pretty easy..
Just sucks that the Plex development team seem to think it's OK to let users develop basic functionality for a product they are making a lot of money on.
Thanks, Chrisjan, for doing what the Plex developers don't think is important enough.
This is a much needed app for Plex. Thanks for creating it.
I have it running on my install on windows home server 2011. It appears to work, but each time I add a song to the playlist uisng the Android app, I get a warning "An error occured while attempting to navigate to the selected item. It appears that the associated server is no longer accessable." The only button available is "Go Home".
If I do that and then go back to the app and the playlist -- the song is there.
I also see the same error when creating a playlist.
Finally, is there a way to delete "plex clients" in the app. I created a bunch of them by mistake, but they serve no practical use.

Adding all files in a movies section is already possible (with the Music playlist configurator) using a small workaround:
Select the first entry under the main movie section in the 'Server music sections' tree (it's called 'All '). For movie sections this will show all files in the section
Select all files in the 'Tracks on server' list (using Ctrl+A)
Now add the selected files to the selected playlist (Append or Insert)
Note: Appending all files in the 'Tracks on server' list (using Ctrl+A and 'Append' or Ínsert' ) is always possible, but for 'Music' and 'TV Shows' section it is not possbile to show all files (e.g. from all sub-sections) at once in the 'Tracks on server'.
Auto update based on a section is a different story. This could be implemented in several ways:
Add some sort of smart playlist functionality support to the playlist channel itself. This is a more complex thing because of the limited search functionality that is available on the Plex Media Server.
This could also be a real performance killer when opening a playlist channel in the client
Implement smart playlists in the Music playlist configurator.
Downside: Updating the playlist according the smart settings would require starting the 'Music playlist configurator' and executing an 'Update' command on the playlist.
Thanks for your hard work on this plugin. I was able to create plugins using Plex, and using your exe.
Playback works for me via web client, and locally on my Plex server, but when i try to play any song on a playlist from my iphone, i get an error stating "Couldn't Create Play Queue - There was a problem when creating your play queue. Please try again."
I even tried creating a playlist directly from my iphone and it still did the same thing. I was able to play it from a laptop on my network, but not from the phone itself.
This started happening to me about two weeks ago as well. I assume something broke due to a recent update to the Plex app on iOS....so it's not likely that you are doing anything wrong. It's unfortunate because Plex on my phone is a *lot* less useful without this plugin.
For the life of me, I cannot get this to work. I've placed the file folder in the appropriate directory and renamed as directed but it still will not show up as a channel in plex. Running a standalone plex server on windows 7.
Hey, I just found this plugin today it's awesome thanks so much for playlist support in Plex. Can I request a feature? I have no idea on the effort to add this feature to the Channel.
So I sync a lot of my music collection to my phone and the list of synced content can be viewed in Plex Web by going to 'Activity' then 'Sync' and then selecting the device where to tracks were synced to. My feature request is to have a selection item in the list to add tracks using the list of synced tracks? And then also a selection item in the list that would update the playlist using the list of synced tracks. This would be when new tracks are synced to the device those tracks can be added to the playlist.
Or maybe instead of creating a playlist based on a device you could have a selection item where if tracks are synced to a device you just pick the device and say 'play synced tracks on Nexus 5' and it could auto-generate a playlist?
Does this interest anyone? I have no idea how to make a channel so I don't know the effort involved. But I thought I'd throw my idea out there.
Well, the Plex developers have finally almost caught up to you now that playlists can be used in PMS. I'll continue to use your brilliant tool until the Windows Phone app is updated to support the new playlist feature however. Not sure when that will be but I was wondering if you think you'd be able to add something that can create a Plex proper playlist from one of your Channel playlists. I hope I'm not being greedy but this would save everyone who has been using your tool a lot of time in transitioning to the soon to be preferred playlist format. Not sure how complex of a function that would be so I totally understand if its not worth the effort but if you can it would be a nice final add on to your project that got us through the dark ages of Plex. Thanks!

Still waiting for this playlist support on the Windows Phone App myself.
If anyone can tell me if and how it is possible to create and populate those new playlists using http requests then I could add this functionality tot the standalon Playlist configurator.
