I am running Plex from a Synology NAS (DSM7). I recently updated the Plex Server to
Server Version#: 1.32.8.7639-7000.
After the update, many of my music playlists cause the Roku app to crash when played. The app shuts down and you end up back on the Roku home page. These same playlists play fine on the mac desktop app and iphone mobile apps, as well as plexamp.
I tried creating a clone of the playlist and renaming it but it still crashes within Roku. I also tried exporting and reimporting playlists via webtools but still had the same problem.
Any thoughts on a fix for this? It kind of feels like a memory issue maybe? Thanks in advance.
Update: I updated Plex server to 1.40.7775-7000 but about 50% of my playlists still cause Plex to crash and exit to the Roku Home Screen. I also tried downloading the Plex Preview app on Roku and it did the same on there.
When the playlists load they seem to hang for a moment. On the one’s that work the song lists show up. The one’s that crash, it never gets to the list of songs before it exits.
I wish there were some suggestions on how to fix this. My favorite part about Plex is the playlist function and now it’s not working and I can’t seem to fix it.
Also tried these things, with the thought it is a memory issue, but it had no effect:
I tried unplugging the Roku TV for 30 seconds and then trying it.
I tried rebooting the Roku with the reboot code: Press Home 5 times, then Up, Rew, Rew, FF, FF.
@rockettaco. I believe we found a crash in the playlist screen related to expected but missing data, which could affect a music playlists. We are working through testing to verify. I’ll let you know once we have an update to share.
It’s been a few days. I just wanted to reach out and say I haven’t forgot about this. We should be able to get a preview build out tomorrow. I’ll update this thread when it’s available.
@ljunkie I was delayed in my return but was finally able to try out my playlists on Plex Preview this afternoon. Everything works perfectly again. Many thanks for the fix!
