Music search: why only 30 tracks found...where are the others?

When I do a search for an artist, track…the search result only ever shows a maximum of 30 tracks!? How does Plex select what it displays?
Is there any way of controlling this? Seeing more tracks or somewhat controlling what is displayed in those 30 tracks?

This is my problem…
If I’m looking for an artist, it will display it’s ‘Artist’ page with it’s albums. Fine, no problem there but in the cases where that artists appears in a compilation/‘Various Artists’ album, then it won’t show up under its ‘Artist’ page but will - sometimes, that’s my problem! - appear in the ‘Tracks’ section of the search result…but sometimes not since it will only display 30 tracks maximum! And of course, 30 tracks is nothing, you reach that on average with 3 albums. So if the artist you’re searching has released at least 3 albums, you run the chance of not seeing those tracks from compilations where that artist appears!
So unless you’re lucky and Plex decides to show you the track(s) from that ‘Various Artists’ album(s) on which that artist also appears, then you only get to see the tracks from his ‘regular’ albums which is of no real use since you can perfectly well see those right above in the results, as I said, under the ‘Artist’ page.

Search is limited to 30 items per category (tracks, albums, artists).

A Plex employee said this:

You can use Custom Filters to get what you want, although that method is limited to one library.

Interesting, haven’t really used Custom Filters before, seems like it will come in handy often, thx! :+1:
